Joyce Greene

My very beloved aunt, Juanita Joyce Greene passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tucson, Arizona on December 30, 2021, she was 92 years old. Joyce, or JJ as she was known by many, was born on October 21, 1929 to parents Velma Copeland and Farrell Bennett. She graduated from Central High School in 1947. On February 26, 1966 she married the love of her life, Dr. Robert Butterfield, but unfortunately after only about 1-1/2 years of marriage, on November 15, 1967, Joyce became a widow when Dr. Butterfield (Bob) perished from a heart attack, he was only 56 years old. While working as a nurse’s aid, she fell in love with the medical profession and hoped to be able to attend nursing school. Although nursing school eluded her, her profession was spent in the management aspect in a variety of medical offices. My aunt was a passionate reader, traveled extensively, and enjoyed her many canine companions, but more than anything she loved spending time with family and friends. Never able to have children of her own, my aunt and I developed a relationship that surpassed that of aunt and niece. She was a best friend, a partner in crime (wink), and in times of need always there with a shoulder to lean on. She is preceded in death by her parents, Velma Copeland and Farrell Bennett, two brothers, Darrell Lee Copeland and Jack Lewis Bennett, a beloved sister-in-law, Maxine Bennett, and two husbands, Dr. Robert Butterfield and Patrick Greene. She is survived by me, her loving niece, Brenda Sue Greenwalt of Muncie, Indiana (husband Bob), as well as several step-children and step-grandchildren. There were no services.
