Joseph Reginald Garraway
October 22nd, 1942 - April 25th, 2020
October 22nd, 1942 - April 25th, 2020
Joe passed away peacefully at his home on April 25th, 2020. He was a devoted father to Eon, Curtis, Khary, and Renee, and loving husband of Cherry Garraway. After moving to the United States from Guyana, he settled in Brooklyn, New York. He married in 1971 and the couple was blessed with four children. In 1976, Joe was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He enjoyed teaching the bible to others and aided many to become believers. In 1989, he began working for the FDNY Fleet Services until he retired in 2005. Joe had a great sense of humor and took pleasure in having a house full of friends and family to talk, laugh, and enjoy his cooking. The family would like to thank his home health aides, nurses, doctors, friends, and loved ones for caring for him during his time of need.

Growing up in Brooklyn there were several families that went to our Kingdom Hall that I will NEVER forget. The Garraways were basically a part of our family. I fondly remember Bro Garraway's distinct voice & laugh. We look forward to welcoming him back after his brief rest.

Sending our sincere condolences to Dearest Cherry & Family. Joe a true friend & genuine christian brother who truly loved his God Jehovah.Known to us as Uncle Joe he's special to us. He & his dear wife Cherry studied the Bible with our Mom 'Ann' helping her to know Jehovah. From our first meeting we loved his wonderful personality, kindness, generous hospitable spirit always giving of himself to others. He took his ministry seriously always looking for ways to help others to the extent of learning Spanish to help those who spoke this language.Uncle Joe loved his wife & children, had that extra special touch in his voice when he called her name. His love for people was evident during 9/11 putting himself on the front line to help.He hosted the field service group in his home.We were always welcomed to stay & be guests in their home. On one of our return flights home Uncle Joe made sure we were 'set up for the flight'.He made us the sweetest Cook-up-Rice complete with salad. It was both memorable & enjoyable. We saw him last in 2018 & spoke many times since on the phone. He is having a very short sleep & will be missed by his dear family & indeed us all.But Jehovah is longing to bring him back this day we eagerly await. He will certainly be missed. So dearest Cherry & family please accept our endearing love & sympathy always. The Crannies 'Crandon Family'.

I remember one summer dad took us to six flags. He told us to go to one side of the park and be back at a certain time. I believe we were a little late because of long lines. When we arrived back at the spot we were suppose to meet him, he wasn't there. 30 mins went by and I started getting scared that we were loss, maybe this wasn't the spot. As we frantically looked around he parted from a crowd coming from the opposite direction. He had the biggest grin on his face and his mini afro was sticking up like Don King. While we went on rides, he decided to go on one by his self. That was one of the best trips we had to six flags❤❤❤❤
