John McGee

John was the best of the best and a dear friend. The list of what made John so great is long. Some things relate to what he could do; others reflect what was in his soul. A partial list follows: Great golfer; I can still see his swing, as smooth as silk, which is why he was a single-digit index player. Great jokster; on and off the golf course. Connoisseur of wine; he always knew what was right; always! Great guy; He had heard that my kids were coming to his restaurant. He honored them with "red carpet" treatment as if I was there - I wasn't (and I didn't even know they were going). Great Board Member - Big Brother Big Sister. We served together for decades, literally. He gave selflessly and tirelessly of his time, talent and treasure. Best story - John held the winning raffle ticket for a car at a Big Brother Big Sister event. The ticket proceeds of all who participated, were to benefit the organization. When John won the car, rather than take it home, he donated the car back to the organization. Incredibly generous! The memories of John are great and everlasting, as a wonderful human being.
