Forever in our hearts.
Jo Dennis passed away peacefully at age 81 from pneumonia...“When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.”― Kahlil Gibran
Our sorrow today is deep, our loss profound, but still we have delight for the life we had with her and the assurance that she is now with Jesus.
Jo grew up in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada with her folks and two younger brothers, Hogie and Don. She was bright and adventurous and grew resilient from life on the hardy Canadian plains. There were many challenges in her life...the loss of her father as a teen, relocating to the U.S., divorce, becoming a single mother of two girls, cancer (twice!), a broken back, arthritis...the list is long, and through it all, her love for God and caring for her family & friends remained her focus. Her joy and perseverance through adversity have been a powerful example for us all, and we believe it is her legacy.
Jo’s natural gifts were her big heart, generous spirit, and warm personality. She was a tremendous cook, artist, entertainer, unmatched at welcoming anyone into her home, making them feel loved, and ensuring everyone had a good time.
Jo is survived by her daughters, Desiree Cesarini, and Barbara McCarthy, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Bob.

I had just recently talked to Jo to tell her about the passing of my Mom, her good friend, Joanne DeMarco. I am so sad to have learned about her passing. I just loved Jo and so did my parents. Now they are all together in heaven. Bob & Jo and Ralph & Joanne, wonderful people and friends. She was a beautiful woman, both inside and out. God bless her family and give them strength to carry on her love and generous heart. I am so sorry, Barbara and Desi and all who loved her. She will be missed.

I met Jo almost 35 years ago when she worked for Saga and Marriott in Palo Alto. We connected and remained friends over the years...as she married Bob and moved to Santa Rosa. Jo had an amazing talent for design and decorating which manifested in her home, art, even clothes. Her heart was open and generous. I loved my visits and our drives through the wine country to shop, eat and talk. We had many friends from Marriott in common - Charlie, Eugene and John - and enjoyed keeping in touch with each other. We were able to share so much - her strong faith, deep love of family and great sense of humor. Even though she was challenged with many health issues over the years; I never heard her complain, she picked herself up and kept moving forward. I always admired her courage and strength. As much as I would love one more visit, It's difficult to accept that she is really gone...I see her name on my phone contact list and email list and want to reach out to catch up with her. I know she is at peace now and filled with God's love. I will always feel blessed with our friendship, she will always be part of me...

I am Jodi Scott maiden name Hoganson. My father was Jo’s oldest brother she had two. I didn’t get to see my Aunt as much as I liked due to distance . She moved to the USA my Dad remained in Canada. I do have many fond memories . I think my favourite was in a Chocolate factory somewhere in the US. We got on the topic of Uncle Harry & Aunt Flo they were two characters lol. Anyways everyone burst out in laughter. I was so worried we would get booted out of being so loud. She once took us to the beach. She warned my little brother & I about the 7 wave she was right . It was huge. I am going to miss your voice I always knew when you walked into a room. I will really miss your infectious laugh & witty humour. RIP Aunt Jo until we meet again

Dez and I were fortunate to be able to each spend a few years with mom as adults, living together. Our memories are fresh and there are lots of stories to pull from as we look back. The thing I appreciate most about Mom was her thoughtful binding together of our families. We're spread out geographically, but she tried to get us to the ranch, to come for Christmas, to go on vacations together...she always wanted us to be close and it says something that we were all planning on living together in Prescott. It's still hard to believe she's gone. I find myself starting to text or call her...I don't have the heart to remove her from my contacts. For now, the reminders of mom will stay close.

A beautiful tribute to your Mom. The pictures were wonderful, thank you for sharing them. She was a beautiful woman, inside and out.
