Life is but a stopping place, a pause in what's to be. A resting place along the road, to sweet eternity. We all have different journeys, different paths along the way. We were all meant to learn some things, but never meant to stay. Our destination is a place, far greater than we know. For some, the journey's quicker, for some the journey's slow. And when the journey finally ends, we'll claim a great reward. And find an everlasting peace, together with the Lord.
Jerry Flowers, 63, of New Braunfels, Texas, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home on June 26, 2022 after battling 15 years of cancer. Jerry was predeceased by his father, Tom, and his sister, Cheryl (Earl Knight). He is survived by his daughter, Shelby (Dakota Galindo), his mother, Sondra, his brother, Billy (Jacque), and his sisters, Robin and Teresa, as well as many other loving friends and family members.
Jerry was an incredibly talented man who loved to do anything that involved working with his hands. He remodeled several homes in Albuquerque, and then in 1995 built Vista del Rio Lodge in Chama, New Mexico. His life in New Braunfels was enhanced by the home he purchased and spent countless hours remodeling, but carefully leaving projects just slightly unfinished so he always had something to work on.
During Jerry’s tenure at Ethicon, a Johnson and Johnson subsidiary, he received several awards for his work regarding robotics in manufacturing. This led to his dream job at Caterpillar in Texas where his robots, or as he liked to call them his “ladies”, gave him hours of challenge and contentment as he designed and engineered the mechanics that controlled a major portion of the assembly line.
Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, and spending time with friends. Some of his most treasured times were those he spent as a hunting guide on ranches in Northern New Mexico and snowmobiling in the mountains of Colorado.
A life well lived, Jerry’s legacy will be marked by his love of his family and friends, his daughter, Shelby, who was his pride and joy, and his love of the Lord, Jesus Christ. As he said many times while he saying his goodbyes to friends and family, “See you on the other side”.
There will be two Celebrations of Life in honor of Jerry. One at Gruene Hall, Jerry's favorite bar in New Braunfels, TX on July 29th. The other will be on October 8th at French Funerals in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In lieu of flowers, please consider to honor Jerry's life by donating to MD Anderson Cancer Center to aid in the research for a cure. There is a direct link below.
