I was taught English Literature at Notre Dame H.S. in Schenectady, NY by Jeffery Laing. It was in 1972 through 1973. He was also my homeroom teacher in 1973, the year I graduated from HS. I also went to his Chess Club mini seminars. Jeff, was so sweet, kind, a gental giant I would say. He was unconventional and I'd say before his time. He made one of the biggest impressions on me as one of my teachers. I'll never forget the time he brought in PlayBoy magazines for us to review articles and write our opinions as an assignment. WOW, how cool was that!? I think of my past often...and Jeff is one of my best memories as one of my favorite teachers. I'm so sorry that it took this long to send my condolences. Thank you, Jeff. May you rest in peace. Please know that your life is remembered, you are not forgotten.

Mr. Laing was one of the two, favorite teachers I had in high school. He was always warm and genuine and made learning exciting. I will always remember him sitting on his brown, worn leather arm chair at the head of the classroom discussing The Metamorphosis by Kafka. He was a good man and loved his profession; it was obvious by the way he treated us students. Rest in peace Mr. Laing, you made a difference with me. LAHS class of 88
