April 26th, 1939 - August 27th, 2022
Jane Louise Bond, age 83, of Arlington, Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2022 at her home in Arlington from problems associated with chronic heart disease. Jane was born April 26,1939 to Glenn and Ida Mae Bond in Lawrence, Kansas. She is predeceased by her son, Scott Pressman and survived by her daughter Lyn Pressman Mueller (Michael), son Keith Pressman, brother Gary Bond (Tee) and Nephew Greg Bond (Amy). Jane grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Jane moved to the Washington DC area and graduated from American University in Washington, DC. She lived in the Northern Virginia area since the early 1960’s.
She retired in 2014 from a four-decade professional career in the Contract Furniture Industry. After her “retirement” she continued to serve the industry with a company she founded to recruit and mentor perspective candidates. She fully retired in 2020.
Jane was active in the faith community of Washington, D.C. She served as a Deacon at the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church. Most notably was her work in the church’s outreach programs on behalf of the homeless population. She also played a significant role in the founding of the Co-operative Urban Ministry Coalition, a union of churches that worked to help strengthen the quality of life for the homeless. Jane was widely recognized for her tireless devotion to this Community.
Jane was a voracious reader! Those who knew her well were astonished by the amount of reading that she would do on a daily basis. She had a life- long passion for traveling and did so extensively. Most of all she loved spending time with family and friends. Anyone was welcome at Jane’s house. Everyone showed up…
The family would like to thank Culpepper Garden Assisted Living for their generous and sincere support during her final years.
There will be a private family memorial service.

Dear Lyn, Cathy and I are so very sorry for your loss. Your Mom was the life of the party! She always loved to share funny anecdotes and listen to hilarious stories involving the industry. We always knew we could depend on Jane to help solve any complicated situation. She was a good friend, a great wit, always ready with an upbeat and positive response. Losing a parent is so difficult. We will miss her. She's in our prayers.

I first came to know Jane when she was stalking me to take a job with her after she moved to Virginia Beach to open a new office for MOI, Inc. It was a daunting task to move and start and office from scratch in her 70's with very few local contacts... but that was Jane. She took on everything she did with tenacity. She would not leave me alone and I finally agreed to come on to work with her at MOI. Jane brought me on and mentored me into a management position, which I still hold today. I have so many great memories of her and truly her multifaceted personality. We had a great friendship and I really admired her, as a strong professional woman, dedicated mother and a loyal friend. She loved, loved, loved her children more than anything and worried about them all the time. Her angel on earth- Lyn, took such great care of Jane, especially in her later years. Jane was also always "in the know" on the latest gossip all over the Mid Atlantic of Virginia in our industry. Jane was blunt, honest- even when you were not prepared to hear it and very compassionate for those close to her. She was very stylish and was known for her oversized beautiful jewelry. We had so many wonderful laughs with Jane, Like discussing new dents on her convertible that magically appeared. The world will be a different place with out her and I am sure she is running the show up in heaven and probably bossing and angel to two around right now. She had a "forever" impact on my life and I will miss her and our friendship. Jane I know you are free from all the physicals pain that had taken a toll on your body and through it all you had such a strong spirit. I hope you are running around on the clouds of heaven. Much love and admiration for you always, Angela

I also met Jane through the world of furniture. I remember a very sharp, accomplished lady…who just loved it when I specified ALL Knoll products on our government bids. Lol. She genuinely cared about those who worked closely with her, and I was fortunate to be a guest at her home more than once. I offer my sincerest condolences to Jane’s family.

Bond, Jane Bond. The name alone always made her memorable but she was memorable for a thousand other reasons. Jane was a mentor, a friend and a confidant. She always had words of wisdom for anything personal or work related. She was so impactful in my life and I will always and forever remember her fondly. I loved the days that I would travel to MOI VA Beach office to work with her but all day long we were just counting down the hours that we could get back to her condo to enjoy dirty martinis...which btw I never tasted until Jane introduced me. Jane loved life, loved her friends and especially cherished her family. Cheers, with a dirty martini, to this incredible woman. I am a better person for knowing her.

Dear Jane: We were brother and sister for 80 years. Those years bring back many great memories starting with the first 15 years that we were growing up together at home with Mom and Dad. We both left to make our way in the world but yet kept track of each other. Remember those Christmases with the kids, Scott, Lyn Keith and Greg at your home? Let’s not forget the other times the families got together such as the lake vacation in Kalamazoo, the graduations, weddings, Fripp Island and unfortunately a few not so good memories, yet we always were able to lean on each other. I always admired your intelligence and your caring for others, especially your family. I promise that just because you're gone, the memories will persist and the families will remain close to create new memories and share the old ones. Thank you forever for being my sister. Gary

I met Jane in 1977 when we worked together at Lear Mellick. She became an instant friend, coworker, mentor and a big sister. We had a great working relationship which extended to a very close friendship. When I think of Jane, I immediately smile and chuckle at all the fun and crazy things we did. I always felt that we were like family to each other. Life gets in the way and people go in different directions, and we did, but our friendship and mutual trust was never further way than a phone call, etc. she will be missed. I feel as if I have lost a family member. Test in Peace my FREIND! ❤️
