John 14:2-3 "There is more than enough room in my Father's home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am."
James J. Malik 79, of Lake Worth, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024 in Pontiac, Michigan.
Born on December 30, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan, to James and Elizabeth (Coleman) Malik, Jim spent his formative years in Royal Oak, Michigan.
After Kimball High School in Royal Oak, he proudly served in the Marine Corps as an Amtrac Vehicle Repairman, and later as a Military Policeman. Following his military service, he became a Master Auto Mechanic, and all around skilled handyman. He enjoyed repairing just about anything.
He loved to be outdoors, and active. When his children were young, summers were spent camping, fishing, and canoeing. He enjoyed volunteering with his children’s Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops, and coaching them on the various sports they enjoyed.
Jim learned to play guitar at 9 years old. His children fondly remember him singing and playing guitar every evening and around every campfire.
After retiring and moving to Florida, he became a minister. He and his congregation spent time visiting with and feeding the homeless around Boynton Beach and Lake Worth.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Judy (Rhode) Malik, second wife Linda (Hyche) Malik, daughter Julie Malik, and son Jimmy Malik.
He is survived by his children, Jean Malik, Jackie Malik (Demétrius Coelho), John Steele, and Kerri Murphy (Krystal), as well as several grand children and great grand children.
The family is mourning privately. Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan at a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you show kindness and charity to someone in need.
Philippians 4:6-7
"Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus."
