Jaime Esteban Benemelis

Jaime Esteban Benemelis Jaime Esteban Benemelis (Jimmy) was born in Niquero, Cuba, in 1928, the eldest of the five siblings (Josephine, Gloria, Dalia, Ramiro). He emigrated to New York City in 1948. He loved New York City. He was a New Yorker at heart! He lived in Brooklyn and then later in Little Ferry, New Jersey. He married Alicia Delores Cestero and they had one daughter, Deanne Rose (Dee). The family moved to Miami in 1974. He bought his cherished little townhouse in Westchester where he lived the rest of his life. One thing that was for sure, you can always count on Jimmy! He was the person everyone called when they had a flat tire, or a dead battery, regardless of the time of night, or the weather. Jaime was a full of life. A happy guy, and he really enjoyed his time with friends and family. He was always up for a party or a prank. He enjoyed traveling; he was particularly fond of cruises and Mexico City. During his retirement years you would often find him at the Miccosukee casino playing the slot machines a bit and mostly enjoying time with his family and friends. Jaime was a very devoted a very devoted husband to Alice until her passing in January of 2009. And their only daughter, Dee, left too early. She died on March 13th, of 2018. Jaime died on August 3rd, of 2020, his 92nd birthday. He is survived by his grandson James Steven Hernandez, his sisters, Josephine Castaneira and Gloria Gongora, and his nieces and nephews, and his great nieces and nephews. Jaime was a great guy and is greatly missed!
