I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down into the grass, how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields, which is what I have been doing all day. Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

Dr. Grace Marie Gosar, age 60, passed away on October 11, 2024, at Ivinson Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving daughters, her siblings, and her friends.  Born on September 9, 1964, in Rock Springs, Wyoming, to Antone and Bernadette Gosar, Grace grew up in Pinedale, Wyoming, where her sharp intellect, bold spirit, and irreverent nature shone from an early age.

Grace excelled in both academics and athletics. She was a proud State Champion in basketball and notably held multiple distance track records at Pinedale High School. As the Valedictorian of her class, she was not only known for her achievements but also for her mischievous sense of humor.

Grace continued to pursue her athletic talents in college, joining the University of Wyoming Track and Field team while studying Zoology. Her passion for plants and the outdoors, cultivated during her studies, became a lifelong love.

After earning her bachelor's degree, Grace attended medical school at the University of Utah, followed by a Primary Care residency in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Although her true interests gradually shifted away from medicine, unexpected medical expenses forced her to stay the course. Despite the challenges, Grace’s resilience and dedication defined her journey.

Grace later met Ron Chapin through her brother, Steve, and the two eventually settled in Buffalo, Wyoming, where they raised three daughters—Hannah (28), Maggie (26), and Seren (23). Though Grace was an accomplished doctor, her impact extended far beyond her medical career. She was deeply involved in every community she joined, serving on school and hospital administration boards, and consistently advocating for equality and fairness. Grace's commitment to justice often came at personal cost, but her selflessness and dedication to others remained unwavering.

After more than 20 years of living and serving the community of Buffalo, Wyoming, Grace moved to Laramie to be closer to her siblings and align with shared values. She briefly worked at Ivinson Memorial Hospital before volunteering at the Downtown Clinic, where she dedicated her time to providing healthcare for those experiencing poverty. Grace's commitment to helping others remained steadfast as she continued to make a positive impact in her new community.

Throughout her time in Laramie, she cultivated a wonderful community, a beautiful garden, and a whimsical house. What made Grace an exceptional doctor was the same quality that made her a remarkable artist—her ability to see potential in everyone and everything. Where others saw limits, Grace saw possibilities. She pushed beyond the ordinary, constantly seeking new perspectives and exploring fresh ways of thinking. Her creativity was boundless, and she never stopped searching for a deeper understanding or a new approach to the world around her.

Grace is survived by her three daughters, Hannah, Maggie, and Seren, as well as her siblings Joan, Pete, Steve, and Kevin Gosar, and her mother, Bernie Gosar. She is also fondly remembered by her friends Beckie Chapin, Sue Ibarra, Liz Wheeler, Sarah Gorin, Debbie Norman, Rosie and Begona Ibarra, and many others who were touched by her kindness and spirit.
