TRIBUTE TO A TRUE AND WORTHY FRIEND The news of your sudden death came to me with great shock and heartbreak on the night of 25th June, 2024 as I lay down on my bed at about 11 pm to read online news. Unlike many other times, I decided to focus on local news headlines and got attracted to read details of this particular news item I had earlier seen in the afternoon. Ordinarily, I don't bother reading details of Nigerian news headlines, but out of what I can rightly describe as a bond of true friendship my spirit led me to go into the details of the headline only to receive the news of the tragic demise of DC Etop Andrew Essien, a true and worthy friend. A long standing family friend of over 20 years, a friendship that distance couldn't separate us as we were constantly in touch. The news pierced my heart that night and I couldn't hold back my tears. Etop was more than a friend to me and my entire family. Each time I'm reminded of him I see man who maintained humility regardless of his achievements, a man who moved the hearts of everyone who encountered him, and a visionary in his career. DC Etop was a man whose time and stay with me was so joyous that I wouldn't want to leave. So momentous it was that you couldn't stay sad around him. Even as he has departed this life leaving us with broken hearts, we can still celebrate the life of our dear friend by being reminded of the laughter, love and joy he brought into our lives while he lived. We will grieve for the bond we shared and the bonds we didn't get a chance to form since you passed too soon my dear true and worthy friend, DC Etop Essien. ADIEU MY DEAR FRIEND ETOP

TRIBUTE TO A SYMBOL OF DEDICATION TO DUTY Yours was,no doubt, a life of diligence and excellence. Your commitment to duty reminds us of Ecclesiastes 9:10;"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going." You provided strong and visionary leadership for your subordinates. Your superiors found in you a consistently dependable ally on matters within your purview. Your departure, though a great shock to all of us who worked closely with you, announced you to the world as a rare gem the Accounts Unit of NCS,the Service and Nigeria shall for long remember as a symbol of excellence in public service. May your soul rest in peace. M P Binga (Comptroller Accounts,NCS)
