Erin Shull was a force of nature who was beautiful inside and out. She was fearless till the end and brought so much joy to our lives.

Erin Shull was a truly amazing human being. It’s hard to know which of the parts of her we will miss the most: her smile, her empathy and compassion for animals and people in need, her adventurous spirit, how she showed up for each of us in unique ways, her sheer talent as an actress, or how much fun and inspiration she brought to each of our lives. A formidable actress, scuba diver, world traveler and passionate animal rescuer and cat foster mom, Erin advocated for herself, women and the LGBTQ community, the earth, democracy and social justice. On June 23, 2025, her nine-month battle with breast cancer came to a sudden and tragic end, despite her fighting courageously at every turn.

As the family is still processing, this site is just a start to memorializing her life, being started by a cousin who wants everyone who knows and loves her to have a place to share and celebrate. It is my intention to replace this starting point with something formal from her mom, Brenda, father David, and brother, Victor.

Erin lived life fully as few of us do. We’ll never know what the world will miss out on as her life was cut so short. But it certainly is less of a world now and our lives are never going to be the same again.

Here are just a few of the things that friends have said recently upon hearing of her passing:

"Erin was a strong personality, very opinionated in her beliefs. Erin loved cats and fostered many furry kittens. Volunteering at Kitten Rescue. Erin LOVED Halloween and her imagination and creativity were never matched by anyone else I have known. She really did love all her friends. Christmas parties at Erin’s were a blast.

Erin’s second home was the water. Scuba diving all over the world and locally with her friends Skip and Carlos. She would gather the troops during summer time and head to Cinespia at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. White wine would flow as we waited to take group pics at the Photo Booth.

Erin was an advocate for women’s rights and we would go to the Women’s Marches in downtown LA. She was an avid reader consuming books with a passion. Very much an intelligent woman.

Erin enjoyed hiking all over Southern California. Dragging me occasionally along the way.She was a fighter. I was impressed how she took control as much as she could. She is someone that was beautiful both inside and out."

"Erin was a force of nature.

  • Move to England for a year after college to study theater? Check.
  • Move to NYC after that and stay for ten years? Check.
  • Decide that California is the place you oughta be? Load up that truck and move to Beverleee…(Well, LA/Hollywood—same thing) Check.
  • Scuba diver, world traveler, passionate animal rescuer and cat foster mom. Check.

Of course her life was more than the mere places that she called home. But what strikes me is the amazing community she created in each of those places. Nothing felt transient as she moved around. Every place became home.  And if you were a furry kitty in need, Erin fought tirelessly to foster you and find you a new family or kept you on as a member of her own furry clan. Sophia Sabrina Tasty, and Loofah: she loved you beyond words. I’m blown away by her ability to connect, to speak out, to dive in and to go through life’s journeys in such big and powerful ways."

"She was blonde, gorgeous, fearless, strong-minded, confident, creative, and uninhibited. She had a love for cinema, theater, hiking, the ocean and travel."

"Erin had a real zest-for-life and hanging out with her was never boring. She could make a simple brunch an adventure. Whether it was a new restaurant to try, a hike with incredible views that had to be seen, or an art festival that wasn’t to be missed, she was a ‘woman of action’ and wasn’t one to sit around wasting time. There are so many fun activities and scenic hikes I never would have done without her enthusiasm and encouragement. There's people out there who just survive the day to day, but Erin Shull, you really lived! "

I first met Erin when she moved to our Indio neighborhood few years ago. She had taken up the cause of one of our neighbors and sought me out as a member of the board of directors to see if I could help. I was impressed with her energetic passion and concern for the community so I suggested that her energies would be most effective if they were channeled as a member of the board of directors to which she eventually was elected. As an avid swimmer, her first project was to advocate for a badly needed upgrade to the furniture around our three community pools. I will always think of her every time I walk past them on my daily walks. I also remember seeing Erin perform and the Palm Canyon Playhouse. She was an excellent actress with great potential. There is no telling what someone of Erin’s strength and character could have accomplished. Her passing at such a young as is a great loss to us all. Rest In Peace, Erin.
