Eleanor Garcia
April 4th, 1986 - September 15th, 2024
April 4th, 1986 - September 15th, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Eleanor Garcia, 38 whom went to be with our Lord Jesus on September 15, 2024. Eleanor was born and raised in Alcalde, NM.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her father Antonio “Galento” Martinez, paternal grandparents Seferino & Sabina Martinez, maternal grandparents Delfino & Fabiola Garcia, brothers Jordan Garcia & Joseph “Chefo” Martinez, sister Angelica Garcia, niece Nicoll Martinez, and many loving uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Eleanor is also preceded in death by Jacob Garcia whom she shared her precious Amariah Brooke with. Eleanor is survived by her two children Amariah & Jose Antonio Garcia whom she loved profoundly and were her greatest treasures in life.
At a young age, Eleanor enjoyed working for Los Arcos and La Cocina in Espanola. Eleanor had the art of serving. Her smile and joyous attitude won the hearts of many. For many years Eleanor worked for El Centro Family Health and Espanola Valley Nursing Rehabilitation as a nursing assistant. Eleanor had compassion and empathy to care for others. She brought comfort to patients which helped them to improve in health overall outcomes.
Eleanor had a grand love for her mother Elaine. Eleanor was a mamma’s girl. Life was not easy, but they had each other. To Eleanor, nothing scared her when mom was by her side. She could never repay mom for what she had done for her. With mom, Eleanor never stopped trying.
Growing up in Alcalde, Eleanor had a passion for riding horses with her dad Galento. She often participated in Los Comanches de Alcalde and danced with the Rainbow dancers. Dad loved his “Chapa” so much. At a young age, he taught her the importance of reflecting on her culture and she found nurturing in sharing the same history. Eleanor had a sensation of longevity that gave her a feeling of truth and living an authentic spirit free life.
Amariah & Juni were Eleanors world. Her love for them was boundless. It knew no limit, nor any condition. She loved fiercely, unwaveringly, and unconditionally. She wove this love into everything she did, whether it was preparing a meal for them, helping them with schoolwork or offering a comforting embrace. She loved her Ami & Juni with no limitations.
Eleanor had an infectious laughter that echoed through hearts spreading joy to all who encountered it. She would make the most mundane moments something to cherish filling each day with laughter and levity. She had the unique ability to find humor in her everyday experiences.
Eleanor and her sister Angelica shared their indifferences but couldn’t be without each other. The two functioned as safety nets that stood firmly behind each other. When life’s hills became too steep, they both climbed hand in hand.
Maria Markestyn was a huge part of Eleanors life. A true friend who cared like a mom. On good days and bad she knew Maria was there for her consistently.
Growing up, Eleanor had two special cousins Jessica Lujan & Elier Erives. The three were able to relate to each other personally and were each other’s source of support in times of need. Growing up together were the best adventures of their lives.
Nina Vigil was Eleanors best friend that loved her when Eleanor forgot to love herself. Nina was the friend that knew Eleanors best stories because she lived them with her. Another close friend of Eleanor and the family was Tom Romero, whom was there for her through many of her storms. His friendship was an anchor and never went unnoticed.
Eleanor is survived by her mother Elaine, brothers Lawrence (Kim), Anthony, & Bruce Garcia. Sisters Jill Archuleta, Pamela Garcia, Susanna (Benny) Trujillo, Annette (Johnny) Sanchez, brothers Michael “Moreno”, and Kevin (Erica) Martinez, nephews Ricky Martinez, Santiago (Katie) Garcia, Jose Dominguez, Jeremiah & Benny Jr. Trujillo, Godson Josiah Leyba, nieces Santanna and Kristianna Archuleta, God-daughter Sarayah Trujillo, Marikah & Aubrianna Garcia, nephews Michael Anthony, Steven & Joey Martinez, Juanito & Jerome Sanchez, nieces Audrey Sanchez, Miquella Martinez, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Eleanor loved All her family unconditionally.
Eleanor is also survived by a host of loving friends. Jacob introduced Eleanor to his family in whom they loved and shared memories with. Bob & Lou Garcia, Justin (Aleah), Kiana, Anna, Autumn, Ethan, Joshua (Amber), Daylon (Antoniette) & Isaiah Garcia. Robert & Alice Garcia along with Robbi, JoeRay, Jadrian, Regina, Jazlynn (Joe) Martinez, and Emmalynn, not only offered guidance and love to Eleanor but provided a unique perspective in relationship in which Eleanor admired. The Garcia Family were a blessing in Eleanor’s life.
