Oh, so amazing that she got to her 100th year. I have a clear memory of her in 1985, Laurel was at Dot's on Durie Hill. We had convinced her to babysit Isis while we went out to watch a band play. I was 8 months pregnant and returning to Auckland the next day, it was my last day of freedom. Dot said to me, why not? You’re having the baby tomorrow. I guess she knew how un-free being a mum could be. I was thinking more about freedom to be with Laurel. Hope the service goes well today. Love to all. xxxx

Sorry to hear that Dorothy has passed. What an age to get to. I remember the whole Smith family as they used to live across the road from me in Wanganui in Bell Street. Good memories of them. Cathy Dalton (nee Cave)

Dot was an adopted mother to me - always ready to havea gossip and catch up on the latest goings on. She was incredibly independent and just hated asking for help when she fell and broke her hip. Life wasn't always easy or happy for her but she chose to look at the glass half full - it was her coping mechanism as she always concentrated on peoples good points. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren. We would sit in her kitchen and talk for ages and I miss that. I am blessed to have known her. My love to all the family as you celebrate Dot's life and legacy. Regards Trish

Kia ora Smith Whānau, I just wanted to say to you all you did an awesome job looking after Mum.. Mum would have been proud of you yesterday, the effort you all put in was outstanding. Loved the choice of music that accompanied the photo Shots. Once you all get your life back in balance it’s time to look after yourselves! Love to you all Janice & Andrew

Dorothy treated me like one of her own and I always felt right at home in the Smith house. She was kind and caring to everyone and always had a cheery smile and liked to have a bit of a laugh. Her positive attitude was inspirational and enduring throughout her life, despite the sad times. I have many fond memories of time spent in her company. Much love to all the family ❤
