Too loved to be forgotten

Clyde Strother, known as “Uncle Clyde” to most, was born June 20, 1934 in Oakdale, LA to Wid Strother and Verdie Willis.

He made a life for his wife, Melbalene Strother, and himself in Monroe, LA, where he enjoyed his job at the Monroe Airport. If he wasn’t at work, you could find him at any local Waffle House drinking coffee and chatting with everyone who came in. He NEVER met a stranger.

Uncle Clyde would give you the shirt off his back if he knew you needed it, and consistently put others before himself. The world is certainly not the same without him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Dan Strother and Earnest West, and sister Betty Morgan.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 61 years Melbalene Strother, one daughter Starla Maxwell, two grandchildren LeSha Smith and Ty Byrnside, three sisters Eloise Ferguson, Jeanette Cotter, and Margie Cannon, one brother Ellis West, and a host of friends.

Pallbearers to serve were Matthew Smith, Jeremy Maxwell, Brian Maxwell, James Maxwell, Ty Byrnside, Corey West, and Terry Hughes.

Uncle Clyde had a heart full of gold and a mouth full of stories to tell. There’s not a day that goes by that he is not missed.
