Loved Ones

Stay positive and love life.

Christina P. Diaz, 44, wife, mother and loving friend, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love in summer of 2018 in Atlanta, GA. She battled with strength and incredible grace against a criminal Colon cancer for almost 2 years. She was a passionate mother, wife and teacher. She loved, taught and nurtured her kids and students to love more, to share more and to live more. Christina thrived when giving and loving her family, friends, students and community. She did it without any expectations to get any of it back. She did not care for attention or recognition -- It was natural for her, it was just her. Without a doubt, she lived a great life and made our world we live in a better place. She graduated from high school in Brazil, then came back to the US to attend the University of Georgia. On the professional front, teaching was her passion. More than teaching Spanish, she loved teaching culture and encouraging her students to experience other cultures. She balanced structure, discipline and fun. She loved giving her students the opportunity to experience other cultures through travel. To honor Christina’s love of her job, her Walton family and her passion for the life lessons travel teaches, there is a scholarship fund that sponsors high school students to participate in International school trips. For additional details and application forms, please contact the Walton Foundation. Christina is survived by her husband of 22 years, Mario F. Diaz, her daughters Sophia and Daniela, her son Lucas, her parents Royce Mitchell and Gerusa Oakley and her 2 sisters Monica Baile and Denise Snyder. Below is her personal note to all of us and a great example of who she was and the reason she had no regrets and total peace as she confronted her end of life. For those that love me…. Look up and not down Look forward and not back And lend a hand. Stay positive and love life. I have lived and loved more than most. Blessed with loving parents and 2 amazing sisters. Found the love of my life, Mario, had 3 incredible kids who will go on to do amazing things. I am surrounded by a strong family, fantastic friends and a caring community. I have been blessed.. Remember. Life is short. Take the trip, buy the shoes, eat the cake. Until we meet again… for now, I’ll have front row seats. See you on the other side of the rainbow.

So sad to hear about Christina’s passing. Couldn’t believe it when I a friend told me today. We studied together at EAB, Brasília. I can remember her good laughs. My sincere condolences to all the family. May she rest in peace. Love, ilona.
