Lori Carter

Where do you start when describing Charylene? She was a spiritual warrior, a truth seeker, a lover of people, a comfort, a helper, a leader, a manager, a recovering alcoholic and counselor, a hairdresser, an artist, an entertainer, a writer and a force for good on this planet. Last night Charylene came to me and wrapped her great big loving arms around me. All I felt was her joy and peace. She didn't say a word, but then, she didn't have to. We met in L.A. in the late 90's at an OA meeting. It was love at first sight! We were kindred spirits! She decided that there needed to be another weekly meeting in Hermosa Beach, where she lived. She applied and recieved permission from OA to start a new meeting and meeting place. She leased an office with a meeting room, so it was totally ours. We didn't have to share it with anyone else unless we wanted to. I thought this was great! Then, some small minded members of a South Bay group were envious of Charylene's gumption! I mean, how DARE she do this? When I heard about these people legally fighting her on this, I immediately joined forces with her! I thought, "How dare THEY?" These two people attacked us psychically! We started to feel sick to our stomachs and got terrific headaches! We called each other up and figured out what was going on. We prayed and reinforced our spiritual barriers, and were finally able to fend them off! She not only opened a new branch, but flourished! We started having an annual "Bad Poetry Reading Night" as a fundraiser, as well as others. We were able to help a great many people find help and serenity and fellowship. I am an entertainer, and Charylene became my manager for a time. One of my agents, Daniel Hoff, was having a gala birthday party at a huge club. There were sword swallowers and all kinds of exotic entertainment and food there, but party guests waited in line to come see me, Miss Melba Toast, and Chickie Woods (Charylene's alter ego). We both were sporting bouffant hairdos and I was serving up grilled cheese sandwiches, which I grilled using an iron and a skillet, set on an ironing board. Chickie was dishing out PB&J sandwiches. It was a performance art piece where the idea was that we were wacky white trash moms from a by-gone era. Charylene's son was in attendance at the party, and was shocked to see his mother there as Chickie! It was hilarious! Charylene would cut my hair for free at her house, and we would confide in each other about our personal concerns. She never studied art, as far as I know, but you would never know it from the beautiful pencil drawings she made. I have some framed. I went to art school, so I know what I'm talking about. Years later, Charylene had me on her podcast to talk about spiritual and supernatural stuff. I have always known Charylene was a powerful force for good in this world. Even with all of her challenges and struggles, she persevered. She always wanted to help others. I would say she succeeded. She has helped untold numbers of people, including me, and has been of real service to others. I am happy for her now. She got to leave behind her pain-filled body and soar with the angels, because, by God, that's what she is and always was to me! I love her, but I won't miss her, because I know she will always be around if I need her. Well done, Charylene. You did good.
