I sit and remember how your house always meant hot tea and asking hard questions we rarely found answers for. Remembering how you never met a stranger, because you made every person feel like the answers to your ever present questions were the most important words in the room. Remembering the space you held for so many, when hearts were broken and grief was heavy; and remembering your laughter that will reverberate in the memories of the ones that loved you like a song without end.

Caroline radiated the Father's love. Her faith is such an encouragement to me. I feel so lucky to have known her for a time, and I am grieved that I don't get to do earthly friendship with her for longer. Caroline entered into my life when I was diagnosed with breast cancer during the fall of 2025. Caroline was my cancer buddy. I remember telling Caroline that I had felt hesitant to reach out to her when I received my diagnosis because of all that I knew that she had just walked through on her own journey. Despite all that she had been going through, she moved toward me by reaching out to me first. She was incredibly generous with me and poured out the love of Christ to me. She spent time with me encouraging me and also talking about the ins and outs of chemotherapy. She gave me all kinds of belongings to help me on my journey through chemo. She consistently texted me to check in and ask how she could support me and to let me know she was praying for me daily. Tom and family, my heart breaks for you in this loss. In a note that Caroline wrote to me, she encouraged me with truth about our God: "He will never leave you. He will be your friend, comforter, healer, counselor, and king." This is my prayer over you all during this time.

Caroline was the closest thing to God on Earth I’ve ever known. An absolute ray of light, comfort & joy in every situation. She exuded bravery and strength, and her belly laugh is a sound I will never ever forget. She was an incredibly intentional friend and had the most beautiful soul. Grad school was 2 of the hardest years of my life, and I thank the Lord she was by my side as my encourager and rock through it all. I will miss her more than I can ever express. Her life is one to be celebrated every day!! We can all chose to live a little more like Caro every day; because she truly lived and LOVED like Jesus. Tom & family- words can not express my heartbreak for you all. Thank you for holding her in the last days of her life and for loving her so well. I know she our guardian angel every day. ❤️

My beloved friend Caroline was always determined to live a remarkable life, full of impact on this world. Ever since we met in a nursing school Zoom meeting, I have been profoundly impacted by her. I was initially struck by her curiosity, hunger for knowledge, humility, and her infectious belly laugh of course. She was also a complete nerd like me. We became fast friends and after a short while, I considered her more like an older sister. As an eldest sister myself, I know we can be protective. There was a time she protected and advocated for me by having a tough conversation with someone who had hurt me. I did not ask her to do this. Nor did I ever expect it, as I surely would not ever have been brave enough to have the conversation myself. She did this of her own volition, in an effort to do what she felt was right. I know this example is just a microcosm of the care and devotion she showed each and every one of her vulnerable patients. Caroline had a unique way of making one feel truly seen, understood, and cared for. No parts of me were too dark or too ugly for her to love. She introduced to me to so many things like the Enneagram, Madewell jeans, films at Belcourt Theater, using words like “sick” and “dude” in conversatioin. Most importantly, by knowing Caroline and experiencing the richness of her friendship, she introduced me to the Lord. She and Tom warmly welcomed me into their community and made Nashville, I city I once felt uncertain about, feel like home. I will never forget dancing with Tom and Caroline in their living room to Harry Styles. We were giggly and out of breath, hopping around while Midgeypoo absolutely lost her mind. That is how I like to picture her now. With Jesus, belly laughing, and dancing. -Annie Holmes
