Bruce was an incredible man. A man of high integrity, values, and principles, anyone that came in contact with him inevitably left with a positive experience. He was and still is all things good and positive in this world. He was caring, empathetic, generous, funny, easy going and light hearted, all while being smart, talented, strategic, and successful. He loved to build things, fix things, mentor people, laugh, fish, work, learn and help people. He was the rock, our Rock. The impact he left on this earth will last forever. His accomplishments and contributions to this world are endless and genuinely meaningful -- as a father, son, husband, brother, grandfather, colleague, boss and friend. Your lessons and genuine goodness will continue to live with us every day -- when we go to work, when we laugh, when we nap, when we take care of our house/yards. You will always be with us in our hearts and minds.

In 2015, I was hired by Bruce to work in Internal Audit at U-Haul. I didn't know Bruce long, nor did I work with him for very long, but even in the short amount of time I did, I knew Bruce was an amazing, kind, loving, family man! Bruce was always around for questions and mentorship. He was understanding and an all around great leader. My favorite thing about Bruce was that he wasn't afraid to be himself around anyone. Bruce would often come shoot hoops with the guys after work and we always had fun. I am thankful for my time I got to get to know Bruce! My thoughts and prayers are with the Royer family!

I grew up with the Royer family in Herscher, IL, where Bruce's dad was our pastor, and his sister, Lisa, one of my dearest friends. Bruce had a dazzling smile and could raise one eyebrow as a form of nonverbal communication. I remember Herscher Labor Day celebrations and a camping trip to Cass Lake, Minnesota. The Royer family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I feel extremely fortunate to have started my career at U-Haul working for Bruce in Internal Audit. Having no prior U-Haul experience, Bruce went above and beyond to make me feel a part of the team and U-Haul family from day one. Bruce always had time to listen, regardless of the subject, and led you down a path for success. Bruce's continuous guidance, mentorship and unwavering support impacted my life in ways I'll always be grateful for and never forget. While Bruce taught me so much about U-Haul, it's what he demonstrated day in and out. Bruce's patience, kindness and love for his family was par none. No matter what, Bruce made everyone around him better. I miss Bruce dearly - from his advice to discussing sports (especially fantasy football) to playing basketball on the Credit Union courts. Renee', Chasan, Kyle, Ali and the entire Royer family remain in my thoughts and prayers.

My heart hurts for all of you in the sudden loss of Bruce. I knew him growing up in Herscher, Illinois. his dad was our pastor. One of my favorite memories is of Bruce "demonstrating" an alternative use for the large, billowing sleeves of our choir gowns! All was well fir quite some time until his dad looked over.. The look, which I think Bruce acquired, stopped us all! He was a very kind, gentle, loving person: family was very important to him. My prayers for all of his family and friends. Heaven has gained another saint🎶✝️
