Bill Eder Escanlar

Bill (Isabelo) Eder Escanlar of Mabank, Texas passed away in Igbaras, Iloilo, Philippines on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at the age of 75. Bill was born on October 1, 1943 in Igbaras. From his beginnings in agriculture and carpentry in the Philippines, he began his US career in the hospitality industry upon immigrating in 1969. After an accomplished 44 years in his highly-regarded career between Dallas and Athens, Texas, Bill retired in 2013 to his farms in Mabank and Igbaras. He enjoyed working on the farm, cooking too much food, building everything from tables to houses, planning projects, hosting parties, defending the LA Lakers, singing classic country and crooner songs, thrift store shopping, talking politics, wearing hats, and being with loved ones with food around. He was an active member of his communities, especially helpful to those who needed it. He was always a proud Filipino and Texan. He was an even prouder husband, father, and grandfather. Bill was preceded in death by his father, Antipas; his mother, Gorgonia; his brother, Tony; and his son, Rey. He is survived by his wife, Maria Imelda; his six children: Ludy, Bill, Carlos, Josephine, Rachel, and Xavier; his 12 grandchildren: Johanna, Ninfa, Jordan, Rey, Gabriel, Lauren, Nina, Abigail, Maxine, Divya, Victor, and Joshua; his six great-grandchildren: Elijah, Keanu, Jameson, Faythe, Jasmine, and Gabriela; his brothers Napoleon and Ted; his sisters Perla, Aurora, and Salvacion; beloved in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Traditional Catholic funeral arrangements will be held on Monday, June 10th in Igbaras, Iloilo. Meanwhile, a memorial will be extended in the US locally for all family and friends with final details forthcoming.
