Eve Benson
July 14th, 1971 - September 21st, 2022
July 14th, 1971 - September 21st, 2022
The family and the many friends of Eve Benson are devastated by her recent passing. She suffered a severe asthma attack on September 11, 2022, and left us on September 21, 2022. She was 51 years old.
Eve spent her early childhood in the small communities of Marin County, where neighbors and local shopkeepers were charmed by her sweet confidence and cheer. She moved with her family to the town of Sonoma in the late 1970s where they created a nurturing country home with goats, sheep, rabbits, chickens, ducks, and horses. It was in Sonoma that Eve developed her deep love of riding and where she experienced great freedom, exploring the hills with her beloved horse, Esprit.
Eve’s gregarious nature drew her into the circle of “theater kids” in high school where she enjoyed acting in plays and musicals, creating life-long friendships and a passion for creative expression. Her seemingly endless stream of inventive ideas inspired her to patent her own accessory line of Dez-Demona’s Little Devil Horns Barrettes, still sold by Hot Topic and pop-up Halloween stores. In addition to being exceptionally creative, Eve was exceptionally intelligent. Pursuing her facility and passion for language, she graduated from UC Berkeley with a major in Spanish and minor in Persian.
Professional pursuits led her to accept a job with MasterClass, where Eve was admired for the passion, expertise, and humor infused in her work. From the development of a complex archival system cleverly named ADAM (Archival Data Asset Management) to her often hilarious and well-crafted training, Eve built a lasting legacy at MasterClass.
In recent years, Eve was excited to find the perfect community in which to buy a home—Dogpatch, a popular San Francisco neighborhood where she made a wealth of meaningful connections with folks at the local dog parks, residents in her building, and the staff in local restaurants and shops, creating the same sense of small-town community she experienced as a child. With her startlingly quick and always spot-on sense of humor, she was able to disarm and charm anyone. Her friendships were deepened by her generosity, and her ability to listen with love and compassion.
In her life, Eve did all of the important things right and those of us fortunate to have received her affection have been forever improved. She is dearly missed by her mother Ellen Benson, her father Allan Benson, her brother Peter Benson, cousins Serena, Brett, and Andrew, best friend Victoria, dog Jack, cats Penny and Milo, and countless others.

Its Dec 15, 2023 & I just heard the news after asking about Eve. Was on a Zoom call with her former boss/co-worker at Lieberman Prods. Shocked & saddened as I write this. Eve was super fun & cool to work with while filming in San Francisco. Gracious, generous, caring, optimistic, genuine, down-to-earth & an all out 'delight'. My deepest sympathy. I'm sending blessings & prayers of healing loving comfort to her entire family & all who grieve her transition.

Eve is one of those special souls that left a lasting impact on everyone that came to know her. I am a better person for knowing Eve, & to have gotten to spend so many days with her in our personal Zoom boxes at MasterClass. Even virtually, she found a way to connect with people. She saw people at their core & loved them for who they are. I am grateful to have been seen by Eve. So many amazing times that I will cherish. Friendsgiving 2021 with our small but mighty team of kickass ladies. The creation of ADAM, an in-depth asset management system that she cleverly built from a blank Coda doc. Afternoon games of Code Names on Zoom, we would be spymasters together and side chat and giggle till we were crying on mute while the team tried to guess our clues. Morning coffee on Zoom and saying hi to Jack and Milo and Penny. A random crystal tree purchase on a day out in SF, just because it “made us happy”. Frozen yogurt at Soulva with our girls. Advice on the difficult parts of work or mostly life. A virtual support system, and shoulder to cry on. She took me under her wing & mentored me in so many ways. Her presence in these past months has been felt in the excitement at a new idea. If it seems brilliant, I’ve come to believe that’s Eve’s way of saying it is and run with it. An immense amount of love to all who know and love Eve. What a bright light in this life. ✨
