Barb was one of the first people I met when I first attended Mayflower church. I was a fairly recent resident of Colorado. Barb made me feel welcomed. She was so helpful to everyone who knew her. She will be missed by so many.

Narrowing down just one story is hard, impossible almost, however I have decided on one of my very favorite stories that screams, AUNT BARB!! I have a Hoya plant, it so rarely blooms, only when it is VERY happy! It is my life's goal to get it to bloom. Years ago it bloomed for the first time, and when I told my husband, he unenthusiastically congratulated me. Not what I wanted at all, so I called Aunt Barb and told her what happened, and she cheered and told me how wonderful that was and how happy my plant must be! I turned to my husband and said see, that is the reaction I was looking for! :) Her cheerful disposition and enthusiasm for the smallest details in life is what I will take with me forever. Her smile always made everyone feel welcome and loved. I will miss her every moment of every day, but am so very thankful for having her in my life. Love you always Auntie Barb!!

Aunt Barb was so good to me. She helped teach me to swim by pushing me into the lake at Island Acres and then jumping in after me to teach me to be more than a dog paddler. She was a strong swimmer and it made all the difference. She once took my cousin Adria and I shopping in downtown Denver when we were both in our early teens. We were both from small towns and so this was a big deal for us. We took both the number 0 and the 15 buses (in my opinion, the most interesting and challenging buses in Denver) and had lunch downtown. It made us both feel like adult women and it was a mini adventure with our Aunt that was really special to both of us. Her fourth of July parties were always inclusive and fun as she invited neighbors, family, friends, and friends of friends to come and have a burger and feel welcome. She was a loving and fun Aunt and I will miss her dearly.

I met Barb when I was 19, maybe 20. I was Troy and Val's friend first, but she adopted me the very first 4th of July party, I attended. She made sure I knew I was one of hers and that I was comfortable in her home! She introduced me to all the people and the food stations with her hand placed softly on my spine betwen my shoulderblades. It was such a comfort as she, the human, was such a comfort! I gladly paid back that kindness during Katrice's wedding where we would lock eyes before sending me to finding her wine to refill her glass. She was always another Mom to me, especially when she found chocolate chip cookies for Fer and I at the reception for Debbie's funeral. Fer and I were dreaming of how chocolate chip cookies could soothe our sadness. Barb's hand appeared between us and piled on a small white napkin were chocolate chip cookies. Her girls were hurting and she was doing what she could to make it better. Finally, in evening and the bitter cold the day she passed, I was thinking about her in my friend's car while he was getting gas. I stared at this package the contained my new modem for my new apartment and I said outloud, "I don't think I can do this!". I felt her presence in the backseat and then her hand on my shoulder. I heard her voice in my heart, and it said, "I know you are scared hunny! You are doing the right thing! You can do it!" She was right! I will always wish for one more hug from her, but she enriched my life in such a beautiful way on Earth and I know she will forever watch over us as a the best Gaurdian Angel! Troy, Katrice, and Jennifer I am so very sorry for your loss! Thank you for sharing your Mom with me! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

There's such a deep hole at Mayflower: Lydia circle, Crafters, and the pew in front of me. You are already very missed, Barb.
