Avi Farah
11 de marzo de 1958 - 19 de abril de 2022
11 de marzo de 1958 - 19 de abril de 2022
It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Avraham Farah passed away on April 19th, 2022. He was 64 years old.
Avi was born in Haifa, Israel, in 1958 to parents Rachel and Touffee Farah. He was the eldest of four siblings. Avi came to the US in 1975 to complete high school at Berkshire High in Massachusetts. He then attended RPI, where he met his wife Peggy Farah in 1977. Avi finished his undergrad with a dual bachelor's degree in computational math and physics, and then went on to complete his master's in nuclear physics. Avi was very diverse in self-education and attended serveral computer meetings and meetups such as Plural Site. Avi is pre-deceased by his son, Ben Farah, and after Ben's passing, Avi dedicated much of his life to educating others about drug addiction. He gave talks at several financial firms, most recently at TransPerfect (his most recent employer), about How to Talk to Your Kids About Drugs. Avi is survived by Peggy (married 37 years), his youngest sister Yonida, his siblings in law Donald, Jimmy, Eileen, and Patty, and their partners, and many nieces and nephews.

I just heard about Avi's passing now. I worked with Avi many years ago at S&P. He was always a pleasure to work with. He was always learning, growing and sharing. He will be missed. I made a donation to Amudim in his memory. May his memory be a blessing.

I am so sad to hear this news. I never met Avi in person, only through Zoom during the pandemic through design thinking workshops, but the short time that I have spent with him in group sessions and small groups have made an impact. I will always remember his warm smile, encouraging words, and bright ideas. He will be missed. I send my utmost condolences to his family, and will be thinking of you today.

Samyadev and I met Avi and Peggy and Ben in 1995. Avi and Peggy were both an inspiration to us as they helped us navigate a business. They both welcomed us into their hearts and their home with pure love and joy. I remember Avi's wisdom and passion. He was a great mentor and a great friend. Avi and Peggy were always extending a hand no matter the situation. Avi's laughter was very special and always there. Our deepest sympathy Peggy, to you and lots of love to you. May God give you the courage and strength to move ahead.

I couldn't believe it when I read this heartbreaking news 2 months to the day after it happened. Avi and I met through Design Dream Lab. Avi enriched every conversation with insightful, considered opinions. He was a truth seeker. He was encouraging, engaged and engaging. Lee once commented that we analyzed situations similarly. Sometimes we were teammates in break-out rooms together. That's when we learned more about each other. We had no idea how much we had in common until we discovered that we both lived in Israel. We both experienced growing up in two cultures and religions. He came to USA to finish high school. I went to Israel to finish high school. We discovered that we both were alumni of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. We both were computer programmers. We both married in 1985 and we both had firstborns in 1988. What else might the river of time revealed had it continued to flow? May Avi's memory be for a blessing. Rest in peace, my friend, Avi.

We are very sad to learn that Avi passed away, we met him and Peggy in 2017 after renting a home of theirs in Woodbridge, from that very moment we could see the kindness that Avi projected, his personality was so embracing and friendly. Our most sincere condolences to Peggy and the family for Avi's loss, may his soul rest in peace for all eternity.

Had the pleasure to known Avi through Lee’s Design Dream Lab, his enthusiasm and knowledge always filled our virtual room, and we’ll always remember those moments!
