On March 13th, 2025 Antonio Rubio, fondly known as Tony, passed away at the age of 95, in Manteca, California. Born in New York City to Dolores Conde and Antonio Rubio, Tony spent his youth in New York. Soon after graduating from high school, he moved to Colorado, where he joined the army and met his wife Virginia Ramirez. They raised three children, Anthony, Ricky and Michelle and were married 69 years. In (1951),Tony and Virginia settled in California, where Tony was the ultimate entrepreneur: first becoming a barber, then owning several barbershops, a bar, a restaurant, an ice cream parlor. He also loved investing in real estate and ultimately retired in Auburn, California. Tony had the gift of gab, was known for his sense of humor and enchanted everyone with his contagious laughter and endless stories. He passion for golf kept him on the greens, playing with friends and golf buddies in Auburn. Years after Virginia’s demise, Tony moved to Manteca to be closer his sister Sonia Baergra, a blessing for them both, as they were surrounded by family and friends.Family was always important to Tony. His extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-nieces and great-nephews have all been touched by him. On his 95th birthday, Tony was able to play a round of golf with his son Rick, grandsons Chris and Gabe, fittingly at the Manteca Golf Club, the site of his celebration of life. More recently, Tony got the opportunity to meet the newest member of his family, his great-granddaughter Taytum. Tony is survived by his sister Sonia Baergra, sons Anthony (Susan) and Rick and daughter Michelle(Tim), six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A celebration of Tony's life will be held on July 10th at the Manteca Park Golf Course Clubhouse. We knew Tony as Dad, Pops, Brother, Uncle, Grandpa, and friend, and we have all been touched in someway by a kind loving man who lived a full life, as the song “My Way” goes “…And more, much more than this, I did it my way.” He will be missed but surely happy to be reunited with his beloved wife Virginia.
