Anthony Crawford

Anthony Crawford was a successful business man that was praised upon by his family for sticking up for his rights. He started a school in Abbeville. On a Saturday morning, Crawford walked in to town to sell cotton seed. However, the people were only paying him 85 cents. He told them to give him back his cotton seeds. Crawford was then arrested for cursing a white man. He was carryed out of jail by roughly 400 people and was stabbed and dragged around town behind a car. The next day he was lynched in front of many people.
