I'm sorry the picture isn't bigger. The first time we met Tom and Margo is when they were the parents in charge of the Strawberry Festival at Camp Plymouth State Park. This was our first year as rangers there. We hit it off right away. John and Tom had the same wry sense of humor. For the next 16 years. Tom planned a 'surprise' for us as we returned for the next season.Through the years we have maintained this friendship...in VT and here in Florida. We sure do miss you both.
p.s the picture shows Tom trying to fly off one of the mountains we climbed with them....he's gotten his wish and has been flying with the angels this past year and forever more.

Thank you for reinforcing why we picked the perfect location to spend the day! You will be there with us in our hearts. Did you know he hung the "no lifeguard on duty, if you insist on swimming, swim at your own risk" sign in both the sugar house and the garage. That might have been one of his favorite jokes of all time. I can still picture him chuckling about it and boy did he ever get the last laugh on that one.

I just want to thank everyone for participating in the events of 7/27, when we celebrated Tom's life. Although most of the stories were privately told, they added more memories that often brought laughter & touched our hearts. Your kindness & ongoing gestures of love help to keep me going - Thanks

Thomas L. Marrone, 77, passed away unexpectedly in the peaceful waters of Echo Lake on 7/27/20, while on an outing with his wife, Margo, and grandsons. He was born in Bethpage, NY to Thomas D and Marian (Maggi) Marrone on 6/6/43. In his teens they moved to Armonk, NY and he graduated from Pleasantville High School, then received his Bachelors degree in Marketing from the University of Bridgeport. Tom was part of the Air National Guard in White Plains, NY. He worked in sales for various companies in NY and later in VT and NH. He was employed at Green Mountain Industries (later Rutland Industries), which enabled the 1978 move to the ski house he built in his beloved VT.
He was a member of the Green Mountain Fly Tyers, led the initial recycling effort in Plymouth, enjoyed coaching boys tennis at Woodstock Union High School, taught skiing at Round Top and the Killington Junior Program, and was a long-time member of the Plymouth Volunteer Fire Department. He loved driving fellow American Legion members in the Woodstock Memorial Day parades. He took great pride in his family and loved to have family and friends help with making maple syrup each year. Laid back, fun-loving and kind, he accepted others easily and had many wonderful friendships that he cherished.
In light of COVID-19, Gwen Groff led a small graveside service for immediate family on 7/31, including a last call salute by the Plymouth Fire Dept. As his church family, the congregation of Bethany Mennonite Church provided flowers and beautiful music.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 46 years, daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Chris Perrino, and grandsons, Owen and Landon, and several beloved cousins.
There have been so many expressions of affection and warm memories shared, that have been a wonderful tribute and great comfort.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Black River Independent School (blackriveris.org) for bettering local educational opportunities for children or to Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society, P.O. Box 702 Brownsville, VT 05037, on whose board he served for many years.
Music can be so healing and this gift has touched my heart tremendously. We are so thankful these amazing women shared their brilliance with us! Cara White Woods - this so special! https://www.facebook.com/100004233218061/videos/1957290811088674/

It is hard to believe that nearly a year has gone by. As the time draws close for Tom's Celebration of Life on 7/27, Melissa & I, along with other family members hope that you will join us. It will be an all day event starting at Camp Plymouth State Park from 10 AM until 3 PM, a lovely setting for swimming & boating. We will pay the entrance fee for those who wish to meet with us there. There will be a table set with a book for you to include your thoughts & stories. Our dear friend, Erik Johansson will be providing his wonderful music, too. Between 5 & 7 PM, our family will be in the tent at the Echo Lake Inn to receive folks and share memories. We will need to have a count of those who plan to attend for the purpose of ordering appetizers, so let us know if you plan to be there. Acoustic Music from the Hills of VT (Jason Cann) will be there, too. There will be no formal service at either place, although I plan to read a poem. We hope others with openly share, with or without the mic. This will be a time to laugh & cry & hug in a relaxed manner - laid back like Tom! ❣️

By the way, in case the weather doesn't cooperate, we will still have a place to congregation at the park at one of their covered pavilions, so come rain or shine.
The time at the Echo Lake Inn will be in the tent, so we will be sheltered there as well! Looking forward to sharing memories...
