Miles Eugene Rogers, 58
Santa Fe NM and Willows CA
It is with great personal sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Miles Rogers. We know this comes as a shock to everyone, he will be greatly missed. Miles was a friend to everyone he met and enjoyed life every day to its fullest. He loved spending time with his family and friends as often as possible, even over long distances.
Miles died Sunday evening, June 28, 2020 from complications to his long-standing cardiac condition. He was born September 28, 1961, in Fort Morgan, Colorado where he grew up in a large loving family. Miles worked in the seed industry for over 30 years, where he met “the love of his life” Patty Buskirk. They were married in Santa Fe, New Mexico on April 1, 2006.
Miles and Patty spent many happy years working and living in California with their daughters. Over the 20 plus years of his employment with Seeds by Design, Miles was an integral part of our family business and team. He participated in numerous industry activities including the National Garden Bureau and Idaho Eastern Oregon Seed Association on their board of directors. If you have ever golfed with Miles at an industry event, it was one of the best rounds you played.
Miles was much loved and well respected by the many people his life touched, and he will be sorely missed. He had an outgoing personality, made friends easily, and always had a story or bit of wisdom to impart to anyone who spent time with him. Miles was a fierce friend and would offer assistance to anyone who asked or needed his help.
Miles was blessed with a large circle of friends and loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife Patty; daughters Jamie Hayes (Stephanie) of Boise, ID, Ashley Danley (Timothy) of Willows, CA, and Arianna Lopez of Chico, CA; his sisters Ruetta Price of Susank, KS, Connie Dorsing of Fruitland, ID, Veronica Branton of Garnett, KS, Nancy Woodruff of Kalispell, MT; and his brothers Stanley Rogers of Nampa, ID and Brian Rogers of Gales Ferry, CT. Miles cherished his grandchildren Isaac, Taylor, Jaxon, Brady and Everett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rue and Barbara Rogers; and sister, Marilyn Schreiner.
This comes at a time when staying home with close family has been never more important, there are no immediate plans for services. A celebration of life will be held September 26, 2020, in Northern California.
Please consider donating to Cooking with Kids, the Willows Volunteer Fire Department, or a charity of your choice, in memory of Miles Rogers. Below, there will be a link to the Cooking with Kids donation website or you can send a check to the Willows Volunteer Fire Department at 445 S. Butte Street, Willows, CA 95988.

Miles, I found a penny today. A penny from heaven I think. There are a few potential suspects, but you are the only one previously known to have secretly scattered pennies in my path--just so I could delight in finding them. That, my friend, puts you at the top of the list. Thanks for the sweet memory.

Miles I love you my brother! Man, I never thought we wouldn't get a chance to see each other face to face again. I hate this feeling. But I'm blessed to have had you as a great friend my brother.
Seems like just yesterday we were having fun with our Bari saxes! We must have been good keeping rhythm. Heck, we were promoted to Drum Majors! Lol. What a riot that was huh! Leading our high school band! Almost seems kinda cool now 40 years later .
Those memories were some of the best I had growing up!
Miles, I promise to catch up with you later. I look forward to us leading the band again in heaven! Ernie

As you can see, Miles loved to fish. We planned a couple day fishing excursion to Nevada. I asked him to bring food for dinner and I'll bring breakfast (eggs, bacon, coffee, etc.) We arrived, unpacked and got camp ready. I said, well it's time for some dinner. Miles went to the pickup and brought back a gallon of 'Nestles' chocolate milk and a package of chocolate oreos. I looked at him in disbelief. He said, "You told me to bring dinner. Help yourself." We sat by the tire, both drank from the jug and ate oreos! Great trip, great fishing and wonderful memory. Would love a chance to fish with you again.

Doug, he took me on more than one of those fishing trips with his version of camping food. The company was the best, the fishing good and food just ok. I would not have changed a moment of those times.

Loved going for drives in the old blue Ford truck and going to his place out in the country. You are amazing, and I pray I will get to see you again. Love you.

A Dad isn't defined as the man who makes the child, but rather the man who raises and loves the child with all his heart through anything. Blood doesn't always make a man a Dad, being a Dad comes from the heart. When I think of Miles, this says it all for me about him. The man who loved one of my best friends and the man who loved a small beauitful child. Miles loved life, he loved having fun and he loved you Jamie! A man with truly a huge heart. I am saddened by the loss of your father for myself and for you. I pray for healing of your broken heart. To everyone else is Miles extended family, God bless you all at this time.

My deepest sympathy for the loss of "Smiles" . I don't know if anyone else called him that, but to me it always fit him! He was a very good man.
Thank you, Tonua. He was my dad, through and through. Says a lot about a mans character when he so willingly stepped up when Tom stepped out. I never truly appreciated that until I raised a daughter that I didn’t carry in my belly. I love her as if she were my own. Miles did the same for me. And Ash and Arianna. He was an incredible dad and I can’t even begin to explain the pain in my heart. I miss him. Much more than he’ll ever know. I love you, woman!
Lila - my Uncle Randy called him Smiley! The shoe fits. :)

I remember standing and talking to Miles at an ASTA welcome meeting, and how easy he was to talk to. Most of our interactions were by phone and email. I pray that Miles' family will find comfort during this challenging time.

Miles was larger than life in school. He made marching band fun. I later bought his 64 Ford pickup, which I owned quite awhile. It would mean a lot to have a picture of him with our little blue short bed with the white snapped on bed cover.

Our home on Platte Avenue. Many happy memories as Miles, Stan and Brian played in the front yard with the neighbor boys and riding bikes around the block. Dad would come out on the front porch of an evening and the neighbors would wander over to solve the days problems while we kids played. Family farm 10 miles north of Fort Morgan. Miles would have been 5 or 6 when we moved to town. I have many happy memories here. Lots of room for a couple of little brothers and solder sisters to run and play. I remember him climbing a very tall pine tree and we looked for him for what seemed like hours. He finally let us know where he was and had to be coaxed down. I'm not sure if this is the exact way it happened but still a sweet memory. Obviously he made it down safely.

Patty, I am deeply sorry for this great loss to you, your daughters, our daughter, Miles large family, and his many friends. Miles was a tender and gentle soul with an endless capacity to love and a true zest for life. His obituary captures the essence of Miles, and expresses all the reasons he will be sorely missed by so many.
The love and devotion Miles had for our beautiful daughter, Jamie, can be seen in many sweet old photos. This one is circa 1985. The years Miles spent raising Jamie are an important part of his life story and his enduring legacy. I would like to share more photos of Miles in his early years for his family and friends who knew him before he moved to California. I hope you find some comfort in seeing the man you dearly loved was indeed the man you so aptly described. Peace be with you.
