Lilly and I had several classes together, but in our statistics class the last semester of high school, we kept each other sane. Both of us were experiencing heavy senioritis and for the most part had no clue what was going on in class. We kept each other awake and entertained during the lesson by passing and doodling silly things in our notes and playing games. Our sketches got creative and we had our share of MASH games foretelling our futures. We’d “learn” the lesson then head to the back of the classroom with the standing desks and sit on the floor. (really defeating the purpose of those desks but whatever) I’m not sure how much math went on back there, but we made the best of one of our least favorite classes.

When we were in middle school, Lilly and I were the weirdos out on the dance floor. Very cringey, very excited, we loved it. Lilly always outmatched my energy. One time Lilly was so into the dance for Hit the Quan (I know, middle school like I said) that she slammed her hands and phone on the ground so hard to drop for the song. She had all of us cracking up. Then promptly after the song, checked her phone to see that she had cracked the whole backside of the phone. Like completely shattered it. Lilly put her all into a dance. Even if she shattered her phone.

I easily came up with her silly nickname “Dilly” because of her love of pickles and I just thought it was clever word play but she couldn’t ever come up with one for me to stick. We were doing some garage sale shopping the summer of 2021 looking for shoes to donate to the church and she was my sweet talker. We had just left a sale and got in the car and I had to sneeze. Now when I sneeze I have a past that I wasn’t trying to bring to light in front of Lilly. I was scrambling for a tissue but the sneeze hit before I could cover it up. I was known to have these really gross snot rockets as a kid and occasionally it’ll creep into my present. She saw this, mouth wide open in horror, proceeded to laugh, and then had my new nickname that hadn’t changed since. From that moment on I was known as “Boog”.

Lilly and I would always love to compete in mini golf games. Even if we both had to take 70 shots to go through 18 holes, I would always have less than her (she definitely wouldn’t agree). But there was one time, one of the first times we went, that I told her if she got a hole in 1 I would buy her a $100 Amazon gift card. She then proceeds to have a hole in 1 on the first TWO HOLES and another one later that ricocheted off of a rock! I got my butt kicked that time to say the least and to make it worse, I owed her $300 worth of Amazon gift cards. Don’t think she was always super sweet either because she rubbed it in my face so much! And like the good boyfriend I am…I didn’t even get her one gift card…but I let her beat me so I suppose that’s worth something.

Going to Barn’rds and remembering all the silly memories we made reminded me of the countless times I would get off of a closing shift, get in my truck, and throw my roast beef smelling outfit in the backseat and change into shorts and a t-shirt because I was promptly headed to Lilly’s house. Often times, I would forget to bring a change of shoes so I walked in looking silly with my gross nonslick shoes on. She would always tell me that no matter how much cologne I put on I could never mask the smell of roast and fries.

After eaglepalooza on the last day of freshman year, Lilly and I went to sonic and got slushees. We went to her house and just laid out in the hammock on such a nice day. We talked, played with Ike, and Lilly performed karaoke for me. (Taylor Swift and Adele mostly) It was just a perfect start to that summer. We couldn’t believe we had already finished freshman year, and that we were growing up so fast. We made some yummy cookies after that. It was great.

Just thinking about how Lilly showed me the treat of dipping strawberries in sugar when we were younger. We used to enjoy it on the warmer days of spring and summer. I also remembered that Lilly knew I loved the raspberry lemonade the Koehn’s made, so she made sure we always drank it for dinner when I was over.

I was recently reminded of the hidden talent we discovered shortly after we started dating of her ability to catch grapes in her mouth. She took so much pride in her new found talent and loved to showcase it. If grapes were available, I’d take them across the room and toss em up. She would squat way down and jump up high to catch bad throws but she would always catch them.

Just wanted to share a quick story about Lilly and her encouraging heart. One day at volleyball practice Paige had a nice hit down for a point. The next day as the team gathered Lilly made the comment to them in their team gathering, “let’s take a minute to appreciate that kill by Paige yesterday”. She knew how to encourage her teammates and to lift them up! Such a great leader! Our prayers are with you all!

Lilly was the perfect amount of sweet and tender and also "lady boss" as this management judge said. I just loved having her around, both in the classroom and in my home babysitting my boys. For this memory, I loved her competitive nature while still remembering this didn't define her. I mean, we were still pretty disappointed (I believe we might have used the word "annoyed" a few times;) and were ready to go open the business ourselves!). She had humor, competition, and grace in every situation. Love you, Lilly!

I’ve decided to add one of these every time I remember Lilly.
Today, I remembered how Lilly would always share the treats she made in class with my mom’s encore class. Usually when people made food in class, they saved the extras for themselves and took them home. Lilly never failed to save most of her treats for our encore. Whether it was cake, pie, cookies, pretzels, anything, we always got to taste and give our critiques. Even if she planned on making something at home for another class, she still made extra so that Rebeca, Alayna, Avery, Tabi, my mom, and I would have some as well. Even when our encores changed, she made sure to walk across the hall to share her sweetness.

Lilly and Abbie's path have crossed many times since they were in Pre-K at Kidslink and Pathway Sunday School classes. One of the most significant moments is when Lilly, Abbie, and Elliott Bise came back from Pathway Summer Church Camp and decided to get baptized on Sunday morning in the Ignite Center. I could have never predicted how their faith and paths would continue to cross over the next seven years, but what a blessing they were to each other as freshman roommates and all of those that they were able to share their faith with by inviting them to be part of their journey.
I also had the privledge of having Lilly in my Honors Chem I class and she always kept me on my toes. She knew that if she really wanted my attention, she could just say "Jessica" and wait for me to find her in the room. She would always give me a little smirk, because everyone else called me Mrs. Shurts. Lilly was a great lab partner because she always remained calm and just laughed if things didn't go quite right! What a character, she could always get anyone to laugh and she had such a fun, quick wit in class.
I also have a fond memory of Lilly at their Senior After Prom when they were playing volleyball. Everyone was just out to enjoy a fun volleyball game and then Lilly started to serve and served enough Aces to win the game. Parker was trying to get her to go easy on everyone and she wouldn't have any of it! She just grinned as she was talking trash on everyone, and kept on serving Aces. I will forever remember Lilly for her beautiful smile and big heart towards others. See you in eternity beautiful girl!!!

I had the pleasure of being Lilly’s “buddy” on bid night when she first joined Alpha Chi Omega. She was so sweet, kindhearted and simply a joy to be around. I loved chatting with her at chapters, she always brightened my day and made everyone around her laugh. She was so genuine, talking to her was like a breath of fresh air. I’m so grateful that I got to know her beautiful self. She will be greatly missed! Prayers for her family and friends.❤️

Lilly certainly knew how to brighten up my day. She would show up with a special container of my favorite-no bake cookies! She made the best no bake cookies, and she somehow knew when I needed them the most. She brought our family her dad’s famous beer bread every Christmas and even shared her family’s pepper nuts recipe with me. Of course, mine were not as tasty as hers! Lilly was my student, my daughter’s friend, and a joy in my life and my family members’ lives. She brought comfort in our times of pain and sadness. When my dad had a sudden stroke last summer, Lilly showed up with her freshly baked cookies those first days we were in the hospital. We were all exhausted/hungry and her cookies kept us going. She was there for our family in our year of losing my grandmother, Mike’s mother, and my dad. She never faltered in showing us how much she loved us all. I will miss your beautiful smile sweet girl, but I know that you’re up there in Heaven still loving us here on earth. Rest In Peace

She truly walked the walk as a person of faith and I always thought “I hope my daughter loves her life like Lilly.” I’ll forever be proud to have been her principal and I will pray daily for her family and friends. I will work to live my life and “love like Lilly” in my interactions with others.

My brother and I have grown up going to church camp with Parker and this last summer we had the privilege of meeting sweet Lilly. The four of us went to dinner at their favorite pizza place and then attended a baseball game in Wichita together. Following the game, Parker had to give my brother and me a ride back to our vehicle that was parked a few blocks away. However, Parker’s truck wasn’t going to hold all four of us, so Lilly and I jumped in the bed of the truck and rode through downtown and belly laughed the whole time. She is a beautiful girl with a beautiful heart and smile. I am so thankful for the time we got to meet and I will cherish that memory of her. Many prayer to her family and to Parker. Much love❤️

Tomas Coleman Scott published a tribute .

Some of my greatest memories with my cousin Lilly are from the summer of 2011, right before our Papa Coleman died from cancer. Lilly was only 7, and I was 12. We did not know then that our papa was sick and just months away from leaving us. We were just kids. My parents probably knew and decided to fly to Kansas to spend several weeks with our family. I remember staying in aunt Julie's house and attending summer soccer camp with Lilly. Coleman was playing baseball, and Garrett and Maddy were busy teenagers. So I spent most of my time with Lilly. Playing soccer in the Kansas heat was rough; Lilly, with her rosy and sweaty cheeks, called me a sissy for complaining about it; I guess I had it coming because I kept teasing her and calling her "Lilly Bug." She was a tough, well-rounded athlete (like all the Koehn kids) even at that age...she taught me how to play softball! And we would play catch on the driveway when we were bored. I remember we played "Just Dance" on the Wii one night. One of the soundtracks was "Cotton Eye Joe," I managed to screw it up so badly that I tripped on my feet and fell. We both started laughing so hard that I let one rip, which made us laugh even harder.

I didn't grow up with Lilly, or my dad's side of the family for that matter. I've spent most of my life in Florida and Spain. But I knew what a kind-hearted, beautiful, and gracious young woman she was. She dedicated her life to serving Jesus by treating others well; that's why everyone loved her. We spoke for the last time about two months ago. I was face timing Nana Ruth and Aunt Julie so they could also see my wife and our first newborn baby. Lilly happened to be there, but she had to go somewhere. But she didn't go without seeing the baby and talking to us for a bit. She still had those rosy cheeks and carried an aura of kindness that could be perceived even through a screen. I love you, my dear cousin. Rest Easy.
-Tomas

Lilly always had a smile on her face, she lit up every room she walked in with her energetic goofy self. Lilly and I’s bond was one of a kind, a kind only goalies would know of, the kind of bond where we would leave practice comparing our legs to who had the worst turf burn, we loved showing our turf burns off at school and acting like it never hurt, we were always each others biggest competitors but also each others biggest supporters. Lilly was always my biggest fan but she doesn’t know that I looked up to her all the time. I will forever cherish our friendship, goalie practices, baking days, sharing our birthdays, and singing Taylor Swift as loud as we could! Love you forever and always Lillyan

I met miss Lilly through working at Jraes Bakery with her. From the minute I met her I knew she was going to be an important person in my life forever. Our friendship was dear to my heart and she always made me feel seen and loved. She was an amazing baker and would never fail to bring me little snacks to try that she made at home:) Always delicious of course!! I would be having the worst mental health day and she would know how to make it better without trying. That made me look forward to working my shifts with her every time because she was truly a light at work. She made the dull stuff seem brighter and the hard times easier. Lilly & I loved oatmeal craisin cookie dough & she would always snack on it with me. This girl made such a huge difference in the way I saw life. She opened my eyes to how great life is & to not dwell on what you dont have. I wish we could sit down and go to lunch together to catch up. I loved hearing about college & how her family was doing. She always had the funniest stories & would make me laugh the hardest. Truly the most fun, kind hearted person I have ever come in contact with. I feel so blessed to have met Lilly Grace through my job. She will always have a special place in my heart. Til we meet again one day Lilly girl<3 I love you more than I can comprehend!
