Jayne Hancock

Biography

Jayne left this message for us…..

I have been so blessed with a life that has been filled with a loving, solid family foundation, amazing opportunities in education, truly truly blessed with so many friends, lifelong, personal and professional (it all blends together for me – how great is that?) and I can’t name you all so I will not try but you know who you are. I hope I told you enough times or showed in enough ways how much I love you all.

  • Arizona will always be a home base for me. I may never have intended to have an address there again but it has a comfort, a safety and many memories. I was so lucky to have a family that was supportive and loving. Dad - you were an inspiration as a cool, calm, positive and tenacious guy. You never complained and always saw the best in people and a situation. I hope I continued the example you set. Mom – You are the rock, the foundation that you wanted for yourself and all of us. And you were so busy taking care of us, you didn’t get a chance for yourself. You are more confident, creative and social than you allow yourself. You gave us freedom and support – give it to yourself now. You had us as a focus for so long – now focus on you. We will be there cheering you on. Paul – Sweet, kind, thoughtful, considerate and a really good person. You were always a friend to me, a big brother to me and even took the position of trying to catch balls I threw your way. Never stop being the guy you have been to our family. Tom – Sweet, kind, thoughtful, considerate and a really good person. How cool is it that both my big brothers gave me an example to live by each day? Tom was a person Paul and I both admired. His talent was extraordinary, his presence in a room and at the piano was a show of strength and gentleness at the same time. People loved his demeanor, his style and his passion. And all of this expressiveness came through him and his music. We lost Tom but never lost his image, presence and the impact he had on everyone.

  • From Arizona days, my first good friend and who stuck with me for 54 plus Even as adults….we might not see each other for months or years and yet we laugh and giggle like high school. Makes me smile right now. Even after I broke her jaw (I will let her explain), even after the last (his last) Elvis concert we attended, even after the boyfriends (yes there were boyfriends) even after…..this could take a while so I will stop. Rocky - thank you with all my heart. You and Mike keep taking those amazing adventures and keep snapping those amazing photos.

  • UArizona - Rocky and I took Tucson by storm. Blessed with Mary Roby and never ending gratitude and fondness for my UA experience. Bear Down. I am a Wildcat Forever.

  • USC - I need a whole chapter on how this university touched my life - but Barbara was an inspiration and mentor. So much gratitude goes to her. And there wasn’t a day that the experience didn’t affect me in some positive way. The people, the memories, the experience. Fight On.

  • SDSU (Fred was the heart and soul, Beth Burns made a difference and fun along the way, Carlos G aka Monty was/is a special guy. Bob, you made it all the better and were a true sidekick through it all creating a lifelong bond. Bob and I meeting Joe at Chili’s…was icing on the cake (or guacamole on our chips).

  • Spectator Sports! (Joe and Bob,Tim, Don,Tom and all the gang). What a learning experience and I learned how to hang drywall! My first venture as a start-up. Character building and grateful to have Joe by our side.

  • Joe & Chic and Bob & Darcy. We’ve shared many wonderful memories. So blessed from those early days to still have our love and friendship all these years later. I love you guys.

  • DIRECTV (a 10 year span of very special experiences and friends). So many smart people. SO many projects, meetings, events – all executed perfectly by everyone. I didn’t realize it at the time but it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. I cherish it and am very proud of the impact we had and the opportunity I had to interact with so many smart people. That was family. And Tola – I hit the lottery and got super lucky to have you by my side through all of the NFL and personal adventures. Not to mention those spa days before ten Super Bowls. You are a special and blessed friend to me. I just can’t say enough nor will I try to because you know.

  • A spectacular JHG team. The agency was truly a love but the people were the heart. Another start up, what was I thinking (?!) - more character building! More experiences and beloved, smart, talented people. We built a “can do” culture and clients noticed. Can’t ask for more. So grateful.

  • Next stop… Qualcomm and an amazing Super Bowl feat with three spots in five weeks. I was so grateful to have another chance to work with Kathy Thomson, who I call out here because she left us too soon. My heart is so sad for her passing but so happy I got the opportunity to work and laugh with her again at Qualcomm. We nailed it in an environment that didn’t know what to expect from entertainment, consumer-based marketing types.

  • And then another amazing opportunity comes to me to work with the Post Time Studios team. Misdee had me on “hello!” Her passion and patience is something we should all learn from and apply to everything we do. Her commitment and belief in me was remarkable as I was unknown, unproven to her. But somehow, she trusted me (maybe a Capricorn thing). My appreciation, humbleness and loyalty stays with me each day and will forever be with me. Thank you Misdee, for who you are, all that you do for many, many people, and all that you will still accomplish. My deepest gratitude for allowing me to be part of the Post Time Studios transformation.

The endless potential of the company remains. So many people see it and feel it as they simply enter the office/studio environment. I know everyone I had the good fortune to work with, smile with, meet, lead and care for each day will carry the culture we have created, and the enormous potential forward. Never stop believing. Never stop thinking big. Embrace adding talent to the team. Make a difference. Grow. Challenge each other. Never take no for an answer. Find solutions to how it can be done. Always stay in the know of cutting-edge media...hourly :) ! Always contribute to an enriched, high energy environment. Success comes in many forms. Find them all for the company and for each person in and around the company. Onward, Wrigley Media Group Always stay inspired!

And Wood, you always make me laugh and scratch my head at the same time. You are endearing and I know I didn’t thank you enough for creating the foundation of the company from which we were privileged to help build upon each day. You are a special person and I am grateful for your trust in me. Show your emotion and give a hug for me once in a while. People will appreciate it and appreciate you sharing.

  • Rick! Check back to the Spectator Sports days and there he is representing Host Communications and turning down a chance to buy our company. Their loss at the time. But from that non-transaction came a lifelong friendship. Rick is the thread that made our Lexington connection possible. But much more than that, he is an unconditional friend that I cherish now and forever. Jim & Pat, how amazing it has been to be neighbors, family and feel your love and support as we made Lexington home.

  • My Kendall and B. I just can’t tell you enough or find the words to express my deepest gratitude for your friendship and love over the many many years. Crazy places we have gone, amazing dinner parties, pool parties, holidays. Kendall, the universe brought us together and for that I am eternally grateful. And as super luck would have it….you brought Elayne and I together. I hit the Mega lottery.

  • The list goes on and on. All San Diego based friends, LA, Lexington KY, NYC, Canada, and more. Wow, how you all enriched my life. It is truly hard to comprehend how lucky I have been with each of you in my life. I love you all.

I want to mention the loss as well. Losing some friends and of course, losing Tom and Dad left us all wondering why. As time went by, I realized how much I learned from them. Their loss made me see things differently, perhaps do things differently but there is no denying, I am still sad they had to go so early.

I have had wildly challenging work experiences, wildly fun work experiences, soooo many stories, amazing people that have touched my life, amazing people whose lives I had a chance to touch. I thought I regretted not having kids, but I see the little kids of people that have worked for me, close personal friends, family and more. I realized I have a rich and extended family. For that I am grateful.

Somehow I got a stubborn gene that allowed me to not settle, not accept no and not stop believing in the vision at hand. I also and sometimes unfortunately, got the gene to want more. It did have its down side on occasion but for the most part it is what drove me in everything I did, everything I experienced and everything I truly enjoyed. So my instructions and some additional thoughts to you, (yes I am still trying to manage you all) are as follows:

During 1st grade...Jayne and I met on the playground of Valencia Grade School....and bonded as sisters forever. How do 6 year olds know that this person will be a lifelong friend? After that encounter...as they say ...the rest is history. We literally grew up together sharing nearly every occasion...from holidays...to high school (from band to sports)...from tennis to softball...to our 1st jobs at age 16 @ Diamonds now Dillards...to world travel...and... of course...UArizona (where else! #BearDown). We even started our careers the same - she at USC and me at UA. But Jayne quickly went on to make her mark in the world of sports and entertainment media... which I watched with great admiration on her ability to lead, to motivate, to take risk, to build, to succeed. We often wondered where that came from! Here were 2 little girls from the west side of Phoenix living in our small neighborhood homes...and as Jayne would say....went on to have these incredible life experiences. I’m grateful ... grateful for our friendship....the laughter...the adventures....and the love. And Mike wants everyone to know that he always teased Jayne that she was his fav...but he meant every word of it! And...to Elayne....I’m so incredibly honored to have spent the last 2 weeks in Lexington with you, in remembrance of Jayne, the love you guys shared and Jayne’s amazing "well-lived" life. Sending all our love to Jody, Paul, Elayne and the family.

Jayne was like a second mom to me and she meant the world to me. I remember her surprising me at an Orchestra concert I was playing in. She was a bright light that helped me through my highs and my lows. I know she is watching over me now with a smile on her face. I love her so much....more than words can describe. Elayne is incredibly kind and loving and I'm glad that I got to talk to her today. She makes me feel like Jayne is still here. I'm happy that I have known them for all 15 years of my life. I know Jayne is watching over us and making sure we are safe and loved.

Jayne was a great boss and friend. She had that entrepreneurial spirit and boundless positive energy that made her good at her job. I’d like to think some of that rubbed off on me. Thanks for everything Jayne. I love you.
