My deepest sympathy to the Best Family. Well, while attending Martin High School though he was going to Nixon I had a conversation with one of my teachers Mrs. Brady and mentioned to her that I was going to participate at a Quincenera, but I did not have a escort. Mrs. Brady mentioned Herbie and I did not know him. But, Herbie was my escort a perfect gentleman and ever since then he became a nice aquaintance. I would see him in classes while attending Laredo Jr. College and of course we move on and loose touch. I am so glad that he has a beautiful family and his memories will live on.

Dear Best family,
We were saddened to hear about Herbie's passing. I knew Herbie, his parents and siblings through school and Cub Scouts at St. Peter's Elementary School; and we kept up with each other through our school years and a few years beyond that. My wife Martha met him at LJC.
He was always so thoughtful, positive, and friendly. Although we lost touch through the years, I often wondered how he fared.
Our sincerest sympathies go out to his family and extended family. He is home now with our Lord and Savior. RIP, Herbie.

We are so saddened by the loss of our cousin Herbie. When our loved ones are called to heaven, the Lord leaves a gift of memories in exchange. Herbie was 1 yr younger & our family’s would visit back & forth from Laredo & San Antonio. We would play all kinds of games, read comics together and laugh a lot. Rest In Peace my dear cousin and thank you for the good memories.

May you fly with the angels in heaven and rest in peace. You were such a wonderful person with an amazing spirit. You brought such joy and laughter into our previous team and you always mentioned, “We are such a great team”. Your presence and positive attitude always had us in smiles. I will forever cherish our conversations we had. You were a true man of God and your faith brought me warmth. Herb, you will be missed dearly and I am so grateful God brought us into each other’s path. May we meet again in heaven.

Great friend and classmate. Remember when we would call him by his middle name, just to get him mad, Owen, but Herbie would never get mad. He was a very kind friend. Condolences to the Best family and may you rest on peace, friend!

I first met Herbie in Junior high, we share science class. He was so handsome and fun. We were always good friends throughout high schools. Peace my friend.
