Glen will be sadly missed by his many bridge friends. He contributed so very much to the bridge community in North Port. He not only played an excellent game, but he taught at all levels, creating both new and improved bridge players. In addition, he began a duplicate group at La Casa which was a great deal of fun competition. We will miss him. Life is too short. And he did make the best of it. Our condolences to Nancy, their children and grandchildren, and to all his family members. Hugs for everyone. Our lives were all richer by having Gen in them.

Nice picture of Glen. He was my bridge teacher when I came back to it after not playing for several decades. Then I enjoyed playing with him at duplicate bridge and seeing him and Nancy at Sunday mass at Notre Dame. He was a wonderful man and will be missed when we go back to playing together again.

John Glen McGeady passed away peacefully on September 3rd at his home in Long Beach, IN.
He is survived by his wife Nancy, his three surviving children, Steven, Kathleen, and John, his nine grandchildren, and his brother Joseph McGeady. He was preceded in death by his brothers Eamonn and Xavier, and his son Michael.
Glen, as everyone knew him, was born in 1936 in Hagerstown, MD to Monica and Manus McGeady, the third of four boys. Glen grew up in Baltimore, and after he and Nancy married in 1958, in 1960 he graduated from the University of Maryland and went to work for Bethlehem Steel. There, in 1968, he started the Burns Harbor Data Processing department. Glen retired from Bethlehem in 1985 and later worked at Keane and Company as an information technology consultant.
Glen and Nancy moved to Long Beach in 1965, purchasing an iconic Dutch Colonial adorned with landmark red flower shutters, where they raised their four children. A lifelong Bridge player, Glen founded the Michigan City and Long Beach Duplicate Bridge Club, which still flourishes. He was an ACBL Life Master, and found joy in teaching Bridge to many.
He and Nancy were avid travelers, his home office decorated with the flags of the 37 countries they visited, as well as every US state. Glen loved seeing his children and grandchildren, and hosted family reunions in Ireland, Mexico, and France and in Washington State and Indiana.
Glen was a charming, witty, and wonderful person who touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by all who benefited from his love and friendship.
At this time services are tentatively scheduled for Spring 2021 at Notre Dame Church in Long Beach, IN.

I will very much miss having Glen present for visits we attended together with our shared children/grandchildren- Amy/John/Luke and Maeve. Together, we especially enjoyed marathon story telling of our life experiences to any of the above mentioned family members that we could corral to lend an ear to these slightly exaggerated grandfatherly tales. Of course, a few very dry gin martinis always helped release these coveted memories of our very interesting ( to us anyhow) life experiences from deep within our treasured memory banks. And I am just starting to develop a Plan B life approach approach for me on how I will survive without my updated and treasured copy of Glen’s annual customized family calendar. Glen Mc Grady was a good man and a good friend that I look forward to catching up with sometime In the future on the other side!

My sincerest and heartfelt sympathy to everyone. So sad to hear about my very dear and loving Uncle’s passing. I have so many fond memories that I will forever hold in my heart of time with Uncle Glen - from a special summertime trip to Long Beach as a child to good times together playing cards or just talking when visiting Florida as an adult. I will miss those times dearly, but always cherish these memories of a great man, uncle and friend.

Glen was a kind and wise mentor and friend. We worked together in Rochester, MN, and enjoyed time out of the office as well. He will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Uncle Glen’s passing. He will be missed by so many of us. We will always remember his long card playing “grunts”when deciding what play to make.
