Delfina Archuleta

Delfina Archuleta – Age 88 a resident of Española passed away on Monday, May 15th. She was preceded in death by her parents: Benita & Abelino Serrano; husband, Bernabe Archuleta; son, Dr. Bernie Archuleta; brothers: Ciprano, Elizar, Moises, Abel and Salomon Serrano. May their souls rest in peace. She was born on November 9th, 1917 to Benita and Abelino Serrano in Cañones, New Mexico. She married Bernabe Archuleta on July 4th, 1941; they were the owners of the Rio Grande Café for 58 years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Society, Women's Club, Yucca Club, Las Amigas del Valle, Amantes de Flores, Knights of Columbus Auxilary and the Lions Club. She is survived by her daughters: Rebecca "Becky" Garcia and husband Richard of Española and Eileen Archuleta of Albuquerque; brothers: Abran Serrano and wife Georgia of Medanales and Ramon Serrano and wife Lydia of Albuquerque; sisters-in-law: Teophilia Serrano of Cañones and Ann Serrano of Portland, OR; grandchildren: Crystal and Michele Savinsky both of Española, Stephanie Foster of Phoenix, AZ, Bernie Archuleta, David Neri and Lesley Sanford all of Albuquerque; special niece, Precilla Serrano of Española; and numerous other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, May 16th, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Española. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 15th, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Augustin Moore officiating. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Bernie Archuleta, David Neri, Eloy and Gilbert Serrano, Jason Carrillo and Chris Serrano. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Sally Borrego, Margaret Nelson, Jessie Martinez and the members of Las Amigas del Valle.
