I met David in 2015 when he became a regular visitor to my performing arts space in Astoria. He enjoyed many shows and lectures over the years & was so supportive of me as a writer and performer. I thought of him tonight as there was a show I knew he’d be enjoying and was so saddened to learn of his passing. Sincerest condolences to all who knew and loved him.

David Paulson was first cousin to me and my brothers, Stephen and Philip Schroeder with David's Mother being our Father's younger sister. Distance between Oregon, Japan, New York, and other locations where David resided made it difficult to visit in person. We were fortunate to see him in recent years when he traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina. These visits gave us time to share and reflect on common family history; and keep current on David's plans and activities. Phil took David on a trip to see the Biltmore Estate in Asheville during one visit.
David was highly educated and often had unique perspectives on life. He had a remarkable career in the financial world not only in Japan and New York , but at other institutions for whom he consulted.
We will miss his Facebook political commentary and remember articles written with reflections on family and life. He loved and supported his four children and very much desired that they have successful lives. We know the Paulson Family will miss David. May God protect David's soul with His power and surround him with eternal love. Terry Schroeder

I first met David at his wedding to my first cousin, Cathy Lyng at the Mark in NYC. I know it was a snowy day, Dec.7,but do not remember the year. My husband and I checked our coats and boots. I put my boots in a supermarket plastic bag and gave the bag to the attendant. A man next to me, another guest, yells out “I can’t believe that you are using a supermarket bag to check in at The Mark!” Then he asks whose side are you on Bride or Groom? I answered that I was on the Bride’s side. At that point, my husband and I left the check in.
In the reception room I met Cathy and David. What a great looking couple! Of course, I then met Mark and Eric. They were so handsome. I was so happy that my cousin had met David and his two sons. They were a lovely, handsome young family.
It was one of the most beautiful weddings that I have attended. During the service, there was a cello player. I met the sitter for Mark and Eric. She was a lovely woman with a good sense of humor. The children’s sitter, Dennis and I were at the same table. One of the courses I looked at trying to figure out what it was and the sitter looked at me & cracked up. She didn’t know what it was either.
I loved the cocktail hour where they had waiters serving appetizers. One of them had sushi. We were reluctant to try it. The waiter told us now is your chance to try the sushi and see what you like. I loved all the sushi. Dennis would not try it.
At the wedding, David spoke to the bride’s family. He thanked us for making him feel so welcome to the family. I was sitting next to my uncle, Cathy’s father. He was absolutely beaming at David and his sons, Eric & Mark.
Everyone had such a wonderful time. David, your work on earth has ended. Rest In Peace! Love, Kathy Walsh
