After a difficult battle with Alzheimer’s Disease, Cristina Pereira, 89, passed away peacefully at her home in Los Angeles on May 2nd, 2021, surrounded by her loved ones.
Cristina was born on December 20, 1931 in Uruguay, where she met Roberto, her husband of 56 years. After marrying and having their son, Alvaro, they immigrated to New York where they had their daughter Carla and where they resided for the next 45 years. Cristina was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She was her family’s biggest cheerleader and constant supporter.
Cristina is survived by her husband Roberto; her son Alvaro; her daughter Carla and son-in-law Michael Colton; her sister, Elena Márquez, of Sydney, Australia; her brother, Julio Cuello, of Montevideo, Uruguay; and her grandchildren Veronica, Diego and Ines Colton.
Cristina was cremated and her ashes will be spread in Uruguay once the pandemic is over. A virtual celebration of Cristina’s life will take place on Saturday, June 19th, 2021 at 4:30 pm (Pacific time.) In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in her honor.
Después de una difícil batalla contra la enfermedad de Alzheimer, Cristina Pereira, de 89 años, falleció pacíficamente en su casa en Los Ángeles el 2 de mayo de 2021, rodeada de sus seres queridos.
Cristina nació el 20 de diciembre de 1931 en Uruguay, donde conoció a Roberto, su esposo por 56 años. Después de casarse y tener a su hijo, Álvaro, emigraron a Nueva York donde tuvieron a su hija Carla y donde vivieron durante los siguientes 45 años. Cristina fue una esposa, madre y abuela extremadamente dedicada. Ella era la animadora más grande de su familia y su apoyo constante.
A Cristina le sobreviven su esposo Roberto; su hijo Álvaro; su hija Carla y su yerno Michael Colton; su hermana, Elena Márquez, de Sydney, Australia; su hermano, Julio Cuello, de Montevideo, Uruguay; y sus nietos Verónica, Diego e Ines Colton.
Cristina fue cremada y sus cenizas se esparcirán en Uruguay cuando termine la pandemia. Una celebración virtual de la vida de Cristina se llevará a cabo el sábado 19 de junio de 2021 a las 4:30 pm (hora del Pacífico). En lugar de flores, por favor considere hacer una donación a la Asociación de Alzheimer en su honor.
