"If I were a lighthouse, and you were a ship at sea, I’d shine my light through the night, till you returned to me." -Charles Ghigna
Connor Berkeley Baker, 20, of The Plains, Virginia passed away on January 26 in Richmond, Virginia in the loving embrace of his parents.
From a young age Connor was known for his love of lighthouses, especially the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Dare County, North Carolina, where he enjoyed many summer vacations. As he grew, his love of adventure took him farther, to the Caribbean, Italy, England, Scotland, Uganda, and more.
Connor attended Grace Church in The Plains, Virginia where he was baptized and raised. He was an alumnus of Little Graces Preschool, Wakefield Country Day School, and a graduate of Kettle Run High School. Connor was deeply connected to his friends, new and old. He was an animal lover with many pets over the years. He was a sophomore at Virginia Commonwealth University pursuing a degree in criminal justice and he loved exploring Richmond, Virginia.
Connor is survived by his devoted parents, Jon and Kathy Baker; his brother Campbell; his maternal grandparents, Charles and Margaret Trefzger of The Plains, Virginia; his paternal grandparents, Jim and Joan Baker of Fredericksburg, Virginia; and his loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and godparents.
Let us put our hope in the knowledge that Connor is now in the care of his loving and compassionate heavenly father. May the God of peace draw us close as we mourn the loss of this extraordinary, courageous, and deeply loved young man.

There are so many people praying for you and who would do anything to lessen your pain if they could. Your loss is like no other and the pain is immeasurable. I have been reading the tributes and it is clear that Connor touched so many lives in powerfully positive and meaningful way. I remember Connor as a little guy. I loved when he came to see me and he will forever have a big place in my heart. I will always see him as he was as a child. He was so very smart and curious. He was unique and even back then you just knew he was destined for greater things. I never was able to have children of my own but Connor helped fill that void. He is a very special person and is loved by so many. I know I have not spoken to you for years but please contact me if there is anything I could possibly help you with. I left other tributes at other locations for Connor but I am not sure you ever saw them.
God Bless you and help turn your sorrow and pain in to love, peace, trust and ultimately joy.
Bess

Connor adopted a hamster fall semester 2020. Hamsters come from ther Syrian desert.
We liked to tease Connor that Pancake the hamster was a Syrian refugee.

This is Connor's cat Smokey. Smokey is the best cat one could ask for, except he is known to steal chess pieces and knock over his stone hedge model. We found Smokey's stash under a corner of the rug.
This picture was added to Connor's final items.

Connor had a love of Lighthouses. We had visited many on the east and west coast together.
As a Christmas present, we gave Connor a flight to New Orleans to visit friends.
While there, he found yet another Lighthouse.

One of our last of many adventures, Connor and I learn about the regions of Scotland and how that makes a difference with Scotch.
Connor purchased a bottle that day that still lies unopened in my rather large whiskey collection. I am still thinking how I can use that to remember him for years to come. Connor, I will miss and love you for the rest of my life.

I am so thankful to have known Connor. He was one of my best friends and a huge part of my life. We sat together at the lunch table every day in high school, rode the bus together, toured Italy together, and kept in touch all the time. On the night this photo was taken, we went to McDonalds late at night and wore crazy sunglasses through the drive through. This is one of my best memories of him because of how much we laughed and talked about it afterwards. Connor always knew how to make me and everyone around him smile, laugh and feel in good spirits. His amazing personality is one that will never be forgotten. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to the Baker family at this time. May you find peace in knowing Connor is watching over us all.

My heart is breaks to have Connor leave us at such a young age . I have been cutting Connors hair since he was a baby . He is not just another kid that came to get his haircut , Connor was part of my family I watched him grow into an amazing young man . We had many conversations & he always seemed to make me laugh. Connor reminds me so much of his grandfather . A lot of kids came when they were little but decided to go somewere else to get haircuts but not Connor! He has always stuck by me ! He’s so loyal. I will miss all of our precious conversations but will always hold our memories close to my heart . Love you Connor ❤️

Connor was a big fan of" The Big Bang Theory." We would tell him Ms Laure had all his "haircut records." He refused to let anyone else touch his hair, "it must be Ms Laure" he'd exclaim.

I met Connor the first day he started at Kettle Run and had the pleasure of showing him around the school. From then on I had the opportunity to spend many memorable moments with him throughout the duration of our high school career. He was a very close friend and was loved by so many. The way he could bring out the best in everyone he crossed paths with always astonished me. I will miss his laughter and all of our Tropical Smoothie trips very much. Connor will always be adored and held in the highest regard in all of our hearts.

Connor and I met only a few years ago when he came to school at KRHS but as I look back it seems like we had a life time of memories together. He was a compassionate and strong individual but what I will miss the most was how goofy Connor could be. In reflecting on old pictures I realized every single one had a story attached in which Conner made me smile. I think that’s what he did best, made people smile. My memories are that of going to homecoming together, taking spontaneous car rides, getting food from all over, and sitting in his car just talking about anything and everything. In the time he spent at my house he taught my brothers to play poker, cooked food shirtless in my kitchen (there’s a story there!) and spent the night in my room watching movies and talking about future plans to travel the world. He was a brother to me and will always be one of my best friends. I’m going to miss him something awful but I know he’ll be watching me and his other friends and family for the rest of our lives. If I could take away just one thing from Connors life I want to take his spirit of adventure. No idea was ever too big or daunting. I know if he were here he would encourage me and everyone else to live with passion and excitement as he did. I love you so very much Connor, rest easy until we meet again.
