Amira Ludwig

Biography

Amira Adrianna Ludwig, Amy as her family called her, was born on September 15, 1970 in Mountain View, CA. She passed away suddenly on Friday May 12, 2023 in Truckee, CA. She was taken from us far too soon.

Amira grew up in Sebastopol, CA. Raised by her adoring father David Ludwig and loving mother Suzie Heumann and was loved and adored by her large family and friends. She attended Analy High School and then went on to the Santa Rosa Junior College before transferring to UC Santa Cruz for her BA. She moved to Truckee after college and joined her beloved community there, where she built her life. She gained her teaching credential at Sierra Nevada College, and went on to be a passionate and involved parent and teacher. Amira was a dedicated educator working in the Truckee Tahoe Unified School District since 2008 and was a teacher before that as well. She was deeply connected to her students and colleagues and had a lasting positive impact on fellow educators, her students, their families and the greater Tahoe-Truckee community.

Amira emanated and embodied kindness and positivity. She was an unconditionally loving mother to her sons Brennen Conklin and Colton Conklin. She was a beloved daughter, sister, family member and dear friend to so many. Amira was someone who always went the extra mile in her expression of love, care, and support for her family, friends, colleagues, and students. She not only showed up to everything and for everyone but brought with her an extra thoughtful card or hand crafted gift or treat perfect for the occasion. She volunteered to help whenever she could and was actively involved in her friend’s lives and in her community. Amira loved to go dancing, play games, gather with loved ones and she could always make you laugh. Her presence reminded you to just enjoy life and focus on the joy of being with people you love.

Amira did a brilliant job raising her two sons Brennen and Colton along with their father Rob Conklin and step-mother Heather Hilliard. Amira was the mom that knew what was going on in her son's lives and when to step in and when to allow space. When her boys were young she was the mom who did art projects and made scavenger hunts in the backyard. She scrapbooked their vacations and adventures, milestones and achievements. She was attentive and patient in her support of their schooling and development. She cheered wildly at their football games. She was fun and adventurous in her play with her sons, whether taking them camping or floating the Truckee river or boogie boarding in Hawaii. She will be forever missed.

A note from Amira’s dear friends: Amira was beloved by so many. She was the friend who brought not one, but three perfectly plated homemade dishes to share at girls night. She comforted us with loving arms without judgment, was right there with us feeling all the feels, and laughing with us until we could laugh no more. She wrapped our babies in beautiful blankets she handmade with love. Amira offered wisdom beyond her years, and hosted our reunions with grace and love. She reminded us not to take things too seriously and that sometimes you just need to chill out and do a puzzle. Her infectious laughter, quick wit, adventurous spirit, creative ways, and unconditional love will continue to fill our hearts and sooth us through this tremendous loss.

Amira is survived by her sons Brennen Conklin and Colton Conklin, her mother Suzie Heumann, sisters Niki O’Brien and Dawn Heumann as well as her step-father, brother-in-laws and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and niece. She was deeply loved by all who had the privilege to know her.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 11th at West End Beach Pavillion at Donner Lake: 15888 S. Shore Drive, Truckee CA 96161. Memorial at 1:00pm and celebration to follow.

Grief sure is a roller coaster. I still cant believe that you are gone. We would’ve been having some fun bets going in with your 49ers and my Lions playing football! Our messages keep coming up in my Facebook memories and it just makes me even sadder. I miss you and am hoping your boys are doing ok. ❤️
