The Voglewedes published a comment I believe that this picture was taken during our friendly chili cook-off (and, autumn beer sampling) party on a cool Fall day on our deck here in Canton, MI. Janel is seated to Ann's right. Behind me are 25+ neighbors/friends socializing on our deck, instead of watching the MSU/Ohio football game, hoping theirs/their wife's chili entrants (in crock pots across two long tables) would be voted tops with each chili sampler rating their tasting experience using the official "Texas Chili Cookoff Judging Form" that I downloaded/printed for each person. We purchased (3) engraved (1st, 2nd, 3rd place) silver chili ladles for the top 3 voted winners. When the votes were counted (you were not allowed to vote for your/spouses own chili), the voters awarded Anna's chili 2nd place in the blind voting out of 12-13 chili entrants! It made us feel good that she still had her award-winner, engraved chili ladle hanging up in your kitchen weeks later. She knew her cooking was exceptional and took pride in it :)

Martin, Justin and Natalie -
thank you for sharing your wonderful wife and mother's presence and love with us. Every time we met or talked on the phone with her - including countless times since meeting in Colorado - was special. Her love, family pride and optimism was always contagious and so much of it was drawn from you! We will deeply miss her wisdom, convictions as well as her friendship. We are grateful that her suffering is nevermore, as well as thankful for the bravery she taught us, and we plan to see her vibrant/loving self again in good time.
Again, thank you for sharing her with us.
