I learned belatedly of Professor Aronson's passing. He was an exceptional professor and an exceptional human being. His Evidence class was unrivaled and legendary, having a profound impact on me. I name him in a recent column of mine: https://nwasianweekly.com/2025/10/three-10-year-protection-orders-later-still-fighting-still-undeterred/. Thank you for sharing him with the world and for his strength, brilliance, kindness, and sense of humor.

I learned of Professor Aronson's passing from classmates in the Class of 2011. Many of us still meet regularly for breakfast. We all shared some memories and quips of Professor Aronson the week after his death. He was one of my favorite teachers I ever had at any level, and I would strongly echo all the positive reflections my fellow UW Law grads have already shared on this memorial page. I only had one class with Professor Aronson (Evidence, of course), but I enjoyed it so much that I soon made a point of buying (or at least bidding up) the golf round he and Lou Wolcher donated to the PILA auction each year. Of the handful of times I bought it, however, I think I only cashed it in for a round at Glendale one time. I'm sure he and Wolcher beat me handily, but under the Best Evidence Rule, I would object to the admission of any testimony about scoring without the scorecard itself. Professor Aronson would send me LinkedIn messages on my work anniversary or birthday over the years reminding me that we needed to get another round on the calendar. Such an incredibly thoughtful gesture considering the thousands of alumni with whom I know he kept in contact. I'm very sad I didn't make it a higher priority to take him up on his many offers. The next time I get a chance to schedule that extra round with a friend, attend that extra game with my kids, or grab that extra lunch with a colleague or mentor, I will confirm it and think of him.

Prof Aronson was the only one of my profs to assign document-drafting, then review and comment on all those papers. An enormous extra load of work, and invaluable to us students. He was an extraordinary teacher, and I'll never forget him. Peace to his family and friends.

Rob was an incredible person with a deep commitment to justice and to people, including his family, friends and students. I was very fortunate to have Rob as a role model, mentor, and friend during my UW Law career. But, I knew of him long before since I carried "The Law of Evidence in Washington" to court in my previous work as a public defender. As an educator, Rob was always focused on students' well-being and advocated for reforms to improve their experience. As a colleague and friend, he was an extraordinarily generous supporter, who was filled with kindness. Rob continued to work with the WashIP after he retired, volunteering his expertise on cases. He continued to check in with me to offer support and encouragement. Rob's legacy will live on through the impact he had on his profession, students and colleagues. I miss him.

Prof. Aronson was an extraordinary educator and always willing to lend his time to students looking to learn more about the practical skills in the practice of law. He generously spent time with our moot court and mock trial team during competition preparation--helping us hone our skills as future litigators. He will be greatly missed by the Seattle legal community. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

I am very sorry to hear of Professor Aronson's passing. He was one of a handful of professors who went far out of his way to not only teach me in law school, but to get to know me and encourage my love of law. I'll never forget the many times we sat together planning legal strategy for my upcoming arguments. His dedication to helping me and his other students showed me how to be a better lawyer and person, and brought real joy into my life.
