Raymond Charles Challenger, Mr
5 de diciembre de 1949 - 7 de marzo de 2021
5 de diciembre de 1949 - 7 de marzo de 2021
Born December 1949, in the suburb of Chelsea, Victoria. Firstborn son to Charles and Betty Challenger and later older brother to Dianne and Ronnie.
Ray lived a jam-packed life of being an active boy and into everything. His mum would always say “If you live to see 21, I would be surprised.”
Well, he did! He met the love of his life, Rhonda at the age of 21. Then came the busy years of raising four children that he adored: Samantha, Tanya, Peter and Patricia. Grandchildren from these families include: Shea,Grace, Emily, Josh, Zac, Jess, Rebecca, Roxie, Alexie, Thomas, Paige and George. With one great grandchild - Meadow.
After listening to Rhonda studying the scriptures for a better life, he too wished for his family to have a life with “a real future and a hope” and one that brings joy in hard work which was part of his upbringing. Which if you knew Ray, he was never afraid of hard work. This desire to help others and be alongside them making a difference, meant that he was the first on the job and the last to leave. But, as he would often say, with a big, satisfied grin- "You get that on big jobs."
After 71 years, he finished this part of his journey on Sunday, March 7th, 2021.
Ray was never keen on the fuss or sadness that comes along with funerals or memorials. He wants his friends and family to picture this as a short break and focus on him very soon yelling out: “Put the kettle on, be down in a bit" or " That's an easy fix, will get my drill" His favorite original song goes along with those sentiments. (Just Around the Corner - Romans 8:25). So in line with that, there will be no formal memorial or funeral service.
As a family, the words "thank you" seems not enough. We have grateful hearts to everyone for their constant and beautiful expressions and tears shared. The love and care to us during this time has been overwhelming and so comforting.
So many have asked, "What can we do?" This is where this page is open to you.

My memory of Ray and Rhonda is at Granny’s Lane ,where they were always doing something interesting.Like buying a machine to milk a single cow in the paddock Together they turned Granny’s into a warm and lovely country home filled with enthusiasm. Much love to Rhonda and family Lyn Ziebell
Cameron Smith
Dear Rhonda and family Even though I hadn’t seen Ray in years, I was saddened greatly when I heard of his passing from Barb I remember as a young bloke, just starting out, Ray was always good for a joke and a cold beer. But even more than that, he was always ready with some advice to keep me on track I will always remember what a ripping guy he was I’m sure he will be sorely missed until we see him again Please accept our deepest condolences From Cameron Smith and family

The loss of a loved one even when it is something you are awaiting is very hard to cope with. Rhonda and family our thoughts are with you all not only now but in the future as you "hit" those difficult times when you continue to remember Ray. Our thoughts of Ray are of a hard working family man who enjoyed using his skills to help his brothers and sisters. A little stubborn, very proud and fixed in his ways but always ready to "have a chat". Jehovah reminds us that the best way to cope with whatever this system throws at us is to keep our focus on the new world to come. The wait won't be long. Much love to you all John and Donne
Kerrie And Ron Challenger
To all the Challengers from the Challengers Ron, Kerrie, daughter Bethany and grandson Solomon. Nothing but good memories flow though our hearts and minds of Ray and his enormous personality, his joy in sharing everything, welcoming all and offering without expectations of recieving. We are grateful for his company and laughter, and saddened that he leaves us. He is just around the corner.

Grant And Marica Scott
Marica and I hadn't known Ray as long as many of the family and friends but in that short time we were warmed by his bubbly personality and warm smile. We particularly remember one day, not long after the merge, doing rural territory with Ray and Rhonda and ended up in park in Ulvie where they produced cake and tea and even the table cloth and we sat in a shelter and just yarned for an hour and laughed ourselves silly. It will be so lovely to see that happy grin in the very new future as we all meet again. Our thoughts are now with the Love of his Life, Rhonda and the family. Never forget that Jehovah knows how you now feel and will always be there for you all as you share this sad time. Our love...Grant and Marica
