I first met Marsda when she walked little Ariadne in her stroller to The Magic Tree Bookstore not long after we opened on Madison St. She was so enthusiastic for children's literature that eventually we shared her time with Kroch & Brentanos. While she worked for the bookstore, she broke her leg but she continued to sell books and hop around the store in her cast. Nothing stopped Marsda! Once she tried to quit working for Magic Tree but Rose and I went to her home and begged her to stay. She did, thankfully. Goodbye to one of the best booksellers, and generous, and kind human beings around.

Marsda was my beautiful, joyous cousin. We always had such fun together- in Oak Park, DC, Charlottesville, Richmond, etc. I remember the last time I saw her in Oak Park- a couple of Christmases ago. I noticed that she had slowed down a bit- I could never keep up with Marsda. We did our usual flurry of activities,: Dinner under the tree at the Walnut room, including fairy dust, plays, and concerts. I remember one time we were on the L- Marsda had some fruit left over from dinner- there was a homeless man on the L- she gave him the fruit. Then he started trying to sell it
