I was his personal barber and former student. I loved this man dearly and took care of his needs to the best of my ability for the past 2 years; taking him shopping, making sure he has everything he needs ect.. He never asked for my help and would always coach me and help me find work when I needed it. God bless you, Heaven has gained a true angel <3

Back in late 1989 I was collecting money for Aids Research on behalf of a friend with Aids in accordance with St. Vincent's Hospital. Back then people barely uttered the words AIDS let alone collected for a cure. Lew volunteered to help me collect from every business on 116th. Fearless from ridicule. He was a Mensch.

Lew was a tireless fighter for our community, whether it was to eliminate the tolls, ferry service or to demand the sand, Lew was always there. He always had my back and was a great mentor to me professionally. He was one of a kind and will be missed greatly. Hugs to the entire community that he loved and fought for so hard.
