Amy (Armida Ignacia Delgadillo) Torres

Amy D. Torres, 88, went home to be with the Lord and join her husband in heaven, on Saturday, February 8, 2014 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She was born on October 31, 1925 in San Pedro, NM to Tomas and Justina (Padilla) Delgadillo. She married Basil R. Torres on Dec. 7, 1946 in Socorro. They were married for sixty-three years. He proceeded her in death on November 15, 2009. Amy loved her children more than anything. She was a loving mother to her only son, Justin Larry Torres, and loving caretaker of her great-grandson, Callan Basil Torres, both survive her, and loving caretaker of her grandson, Justin Torres II, who preceded her in death. Amy also provided a loving home to dozens of troubled foster children throughout many years. Amy was also preceded in death by her brother, Tomas Delgadillo. Amy earned a college degree in Chicago, and worked at Gerald Champion Memorial Hospital in Alamogordo as a Laboratory Technician. She was a beloved lady, she had a marvelous sense of humor. She had many friends and will be sorely missed.
