And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. ... But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matt 6: 5-6
Larry Appleton, beloved father, has passed from this world to the next. He was preceded in death by his father Larry, his mother Sue, and two sisters Brenda and Karen. He is survived by his wife Katie and 5 children, Roger Appleton, Valerie Forsyth (Jason), Angela Wilson (Joshua), Robert Appleton, and Rebekah Appleton, as well as a brother John and sister Bridget, and 6 grandchildren. He was born in Georgia, raised in Apopka, Florida, and lived his adult life in Durham, North Carolina. He was a hard working man, devoted to his children and grandchildren.
Larry was an fisherman, with a deep love for deep sea fishing. He loved camping, gardening, cooking and was a writer. He loved his handbar mustache and his animals. He was a peaceful man with a quick wit and a no nonsense attitude. He liked being the dark horse. He wasn't afriad of being underestimated; he challenged the norm.
His life was short but he left his mark. His one of a kind laugh and mischievous smile burned into our memories. His devotion to those he loved will be evident for generations to come.

Larry always came to work with a a smile and positive attitude. Always worked hard and every customer that came in knew him by name. He had a real sense of humor and I’m smiling now thinking about his laugh. We miss you Larry! #DGFam

Once my father was getting too many calls from the local newspaper to get a subscription. So the next time the marketer call he pretended to be blind so they would never call again.
