What was to come...
I was working quietly in my office in Llano Quemado enjoying the view of Taos Mountain and Wheeler Peak. I heard the door open and in came Lew. He introduced himself and began asking what I new about amateur radio. We talked about radio communications for a bit, but I in my haste to return to my solitude sent him with a task to develop a plan and bring back to me for review. Knowing that most people live on Taos time here, I thought I'd never see him again. Wrong. He returned a few days later with a very elaborate plan and his vision for amateur radio in Taos. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you. I will forever cherish our friendship. I miss you tons my friend. And I probably chat with you just as much now as I did when you were here. Know that you are never forgotten.

Lew: Back in the 70s we were roommates at USF. I knew you as a genuine guy who worked hard, was gifted in math and was at times a "trickster". Requiescat in pace

I had the pleasure of getting to know Wally during his United Airlines days - he was a great friend, mentor, an example for many of us. I'll miss, most of all, his ready smile with a hint of mischief...
I am extremely sad to see him slip the surly bonds for the last time - it was too soon. Tailwinds my friend.

Wally was and always will be an important part of our United Airlines family especially in the B-757/767 Fleet where he was highly respected and much admired for his professionalism, compassion and skill as an aviator. He was a friend to all and will be deeply missed. Our most sincere condolences to his family and friends. Vaya Con Dios my great friend!

My dear sweet friend, thank you for the fond memories and the reminder that no matter how difficult the obstacle, with perseverance we can overcome. I will miss our chats and mostly your dedication to our community. Thank you for being so persistent in all you did. May you find eternal rest. Until we meet again.

My condolences to Wally's family. I served with Wally is several outfits in the Navy. I was his mentor and we were close friends. I would be pleased to speak with any member of his family. I am on facebook as Charles Long. Again, my sympathy to Wally's friends and family.

Lew, you came into our lives at a good time. I will always be great full for what you did for you

I flew with "Wally Lew" in Fighter Squadron 32 from 1976 thru most of 1977. We were crewed together for most of that time. In 1977 I had the pleasure of attending TOPGUN with Wally ---- at the time we were one of the youngest crews to go thru the training.
Many, many happy memories.
Rest in peace......no longer do you need to check six!!!!
