Memorial Service for John

In accordance with our beloved John's wishes, his body was cremated. This memorial on Sunday, August 6th will be to mourn his passing and celebrate his life. All of the many people whose lives John touched are invited to gather, reminisce, share, reflect and pay respects in their own way. This location was chosen because it is next to Nyack Memorial park where John used to teach and is along the Hudson River waterfront where he spent countless hours training, meditating and hanging out. Event Details: 12:00-1:15pm - Family hour (private) 1:30-1:45 - Yonkers PD Honor Guard 1:45-3:00 - Eulogy and speakers 3:00-3:45 - Music provided by Melissa Manning and NY opera singers 3:45-4:00 - Closing remarks *Due the number of people and time constraints, if you would like to speak at the memorial please email Tina at JohnPerkinsMemorial@gmail.com. FAQs Do I need to RSVP? • It would be appreciated if you RSVP on this site. John knew and impacted countless people both near and far, so we would like to get a general idea of how many will be attending the event in person. How can I participate if I can't make the memorial in person? • We will provide a livestream link closer to the event, which will be posted on Facebook, the Guided Chaos Newsletter, and this website. You can also participate in the Video Tribute Wall for John at https://www.tribute.co/john-perkins. Will I be able to speak at the memorial? • We will have time for an open mic, but considering the possible number of people and time constraints, if you would like to speak, please email Tina at JohnPerkinsMemorial@gmail.com to let us know. You can also participate in our Video Tribute Wall mentioned above. Is there going to be food served? • There will be coffee, water, and some sweets. After the memorial, people can walk a few blocks to Main Street, where there are many options - pizza, diner, bistro, Thai, Japanese, falafel, Mexican, etc. • Some people are planning to reconvene at Nyack Memorial Park (next to the Seaport) around 5:30-6pm after grabbing a bite to eat in town. All are welcome. Is there parking near the Nyack Seaport? • There should be plenty of parking in the lot at the Nyack Seaport. If it is full, you can also find street parking, or there is a large municipal lot a few blocks away in the middle of town (119 Main St, Nyack NY 10960) What's the dress code? • We think it makes sense to say dress however you feel comfortable.
