Souvenirs

Marion Rae Morrison (Herriman), age 91, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2025, after a brief illness. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, on August 19, 1933, to Clarence and Gladys (Latham) Herriman.

Marion was married to Eugene L. Morrison for nearly 70 years before his passing in 2021. Together, they built a life full of love and adventure. Marion’s strength and devotion were evident in her role as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was the proud mother of three children: Thomas Rick Morrison (Connie) of Beavercreek, OH, Greg Morrison (Irene) of Edmond, OK, and Monica Grubb of Marietta, OH. Marion was blessed with six grandchildren—Matthew, Dominik, and Steven in Edmond; Lessa, Maggie, and Calvin in Marietta—and one great-granddaughter, Evelyn, also of Marietta.

Marion was preceded in death by her son, Tom, one year ago, and her brother, Gerald Herriman (Joyce). She is survived by her brother, Art Herriman (Marian), of Michigan, and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Growing up in Detroit and Tawas, Michigan, Marion's early years were marked by her independent spirit. At the age of 19, she moved to Alaska with her newborn son to join her husband while he was stationed there. Her journey with Gene took them to many places, including Michigan, Utica, NY (where Greg and Monica were born), Xenia, OH, and New Concord, OH. Wherever they went, Marion formed lasting friendships and embraced each new chapter with grace and warmth.

In their retirement, Marion and Gene made their home in Englewood, FL, where they enjoyed the sunshine and their many friends. After Gene’s passing, Marion relocated to Marietta, OH, to be closer to family. Despite her declining health, she remained a source of love and light to all who knew her. Marion will be remembered for her sweet nature, patient smile, and the kindness she shared with everyone she encountered. Marion's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
