I will always remember Juan with his huge smile and bear hugs. He was always positive and kind to all his peers and adults. He was ray of sunshine and definitely brightened my day....everyday! He was like my side-kick, helping me help other students. I am heartbroken and know so many feel the same way. I am praying for his family, that God will give them peace and comfort, as only He can at a time like this.

My thoughts and prayers are for Juan, Anna, other family members, and friends who knew Juan. He came into my science class late in the year following a schedule change. I was blessed with his smile and humor for the remainder of the year. I also witnessed countless times when Juan displayed his kind heart and patience by helping other students while working in groups and when completing class work. Juan's smile, fist pumps, and big hugs were always the highlight of my days. He never walked by without checking on me. He was independent, caring, and happy. The hallways will not be the same without him. I will miss him greatly. Sending my prayers and love to his amazing family during this time.

Juan's spirit will live on in my memory and so many others at Dodgen. There are very few students who can have such a large impact in short amount of time as Juan did on me. Juan will forever be remembered! His story will be shared as an example of being resilient with a sense of humor. My interactions with Juan dealt mainly with discussing the NBA and especially on days he work his Lakers jersey! Juan will be missed. His spirit will live on!
