Lydia Awowade

I know "Grandma" as I called to her to the end is only sleeping, but this still hurts. How do I begin to explain the cheeky bond we had? How she would tease me about everything from my girlish giggle, to my phone habits, to my almost nonexistent feeding habit? How she would call me to sit by her on her bed whenever I visited, so she could give me the inside scoop on family gist? "Arike, aaro e ma 'n so mi" 'Arike I'm always missing you' ... was how she would often begin our phone conversations whenever we spoke on the phone. She was my second mother, my family gossip partner, my prayer pillar. She was an admirable matriarch whose love for Jehovah till the end was unmistakable. Her love for her children and family was palpable. She instilled unshakable faith in Jehovah and admirable life qualities in all of her children, she lived well and has gone to rest from her labours but my grief is still deep because I can't wake her to continue basking in her warmth. I admired and loved her dearly. I hope to see her again soon, I know her first word to me would be "Arike.." I can't wait to hear it, to share another giggle with her, to fill her in on how we all missed her, and then to share eternity with her. May Jehovah be praised for this hope, and may his kingdom come soon!
