20 janvier 1955 - 6 novembre 2020
Alston (“Ali”) Norman Bush, a loving husband and father, and disciple of Jesus Christ passed away due to complications of brain cancer on November 6, 2020 at the age of 65 at his home in Tampa, Florida.
Ali is survived by his wife, Joy Marie Bush; his children, Amanda Michelle Keovongsa and her husband Khamphong Keovongsa, Gabriel Stephan Bush and his wife Heather Bush, and Nicholas Giovanni Bush and his wife Camille Bush; his grandchildren, Samantha Lisette Keovongsa, Trinity Marie Keovongsa, Jocelyn Hope Keovongsa, Lillian Faith Keovongsa, Nova Emery Keovongsa, Julian Oliver Bush, Desmond Ronan Bush, Samuel Isaac Bush, and Amelia Noelle Bush; his mother, Amparo Bush; his siblings, Richard Bush, Deena Smith, Leslie Russo, Vivian Collister and her husband Jess Collister; and his nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father, Alston E. Bush.
Ali was born on January 20, 1955 in Puerto Cortés, Honduras. At the age of twelve, he moved with his family to Tampa, Florida where his father worked as a merchant marine and his mother worked multiple jobs to support their family. He graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1974 and enjoyed a long career at Eastern Airlines. It was at Eastern that his sister Leslie introduced him to the love of his life, Joy. They were married on January 9, 1987, and raised three beautiful children, whom he committed his time and energy to supporting. Ali and Joy raised their children to know and appreciate the love of Jesus, and he always committed his time to serving his local Christian community through the relationships he formed with soccer friends, work, and his local church. After enduring many challenges in his life and marriage, Ali rededicated his last years to knowing and following Jesus in every aspect of his life, which reflected in the humility and the love he exemplified to the people around him.
Ali was a devoted father and grandfather, and his children and grandchildren were his greatest source of pride. He loved watching and playing soccer and basketball with his family, listening to and attending concerts of smooth jazz, Christian rock, and classic rock n’ roll. He enjoyed the beach with his wife, Joy. Ali was renowned for his meticulous and enduring work ethic and committed over 25 years to working for Syniverse Technologies (formerly GTE) as an Accounts Manager.
Ali received a discouraging brain cancer diagnosis in June 2018. He faced every hardship and treatment with immense courage and refused to despair in his circumstances. Instead, Ali demonstrated grace and love towards others and complete trust in the work of His Father. He continued to worship Jesus in spirit and truth, which was a testimony to all those around him. Ali fought the good fight and now joins the Lord in glory, where his soul rests and where his body will be made whole by the blood of the Lamb, his eternal Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.

We will miss Ali but we know he is with Jesus and there will be a reunion in heaven with him! Ali loved God and his family. We always enjoyed family times together and he is greatly missed!

Ali was such a blessing to Kathy and I. He was always full of good things to say and made me feel happy to be around him. The event I most remember was when he and Joy came to visit Kathy in the hospital. Here is a man struggling for life, and he comes to give life. He will always be remembered fondly.

Ali, was a strong man of God who knew what his standards & priorities were. He leave behind in this world a legacy comprised of three of the finest children who like him, follow God in Sprit and Truth. Rest easy my brother and enjoy worshiping our Lord and Savior with all the other Saints in Heaven.

Ali and I became close friends over the last couple of years. One thing never changed in all that time...his unwavering faith in Jesus, and in His love for him. Even when things got tough, his confession was consistent...he trusted God for his life and the lives of those he loved. Ali's faith will always be a reminder to me of what it means to stand, even when life throws its worst at you. Ali, I hope you can hear me now, but if not now, then in heaven I will say it..."thank you for your steadfast faith, my friend. I love you."
