Ways you can honor Trevis's memory:
We love you. Love is constant, unconditional, and eternal.
Trevis Jay Heiman, known as T.J., was born on June 6, 1977 in Seymour, Indiana. He was survived by his parents, Denny and Cindy Heiman; his younger sister, Erica Heiman Bohn; his grandparents, Jack and Donna Heiman and William and Kate Banister; an aunt, Debbie (Dale) Shelly; two uncles, David Banister and Randy Banister; and many cousins, great-aunts, and great-uncles. Though gone too soon, T.J.'s memory lives on through his family and two nephews, Scout and Trevor Bohn. Trevor Jacob is named after him and Scout shares his spirited personality.
T.J. spent his entire life in Brownstown, Indiana, where he embraced country living. In his youth, he played baseball and basketball. In his teens, golf became his passion, and he could often be found on the course at Hickory Hills come rain or shine. He took pride in caring for the grounds there each summer.
On the family farm, T.J. helped his father and grandfather while developing his skills operating tractors, combines, and semis. He loved hunting with them as well. He and his cousin, Jason, shared daring escapades when they were young, like the time they barely escaped being ran down by the cows in the field.
T.J. shared a special bond with his mother, who provided a listening ear amidst the complications of his teenage years. She was also his favorite cook and shopping companion. Both grandmothers and grandfathers held a special place in his heart as well.
Though T.J. loved to tease his little sister Erica, he protected her from others and loved her fiercely. He taught her to play baseball, attempted to teach her to ride his dirt bike (unsuccessfully), and got into mischief with her around the barn and woods. Rumor has it that he would throw his golf balls in the swimming pool to clean them and his sister would work on her softball throw by seeing how many she could throw in the pond from the pool. We have found golf balls around the pond in the past 30 years.
Extroverted and fun-loving, T.J. cultivated many friendships. He enjoyed cruising uptown Seymour with friends, where he met his girlfriend Tammy. They dated for some time and spoke of their plans after high school before his tragic passing.
It's difficult to encompass someone in a few paragraphs who was only here for 18 years. T.J. was big, tall, loud, boisterous, quick to smile and laugh with his infectious laugh, loved jokes and light-heartedness, played his music loud, hyper like his dad and his youngest nephew, could get really angry but cooled off quickly, didn't know a stranger, loved people most of the time unless they messed with people he loved the most, and was lots of fun. He was a big personality with a bigger heart.
He found joy in simple pleasures and dreamed of a future farming, getting married, and having children, and living near family. Though deeply missed, his loved ones find comfort in reminiscing about T.J. and looking forward to reuniting with him once more.
